No defense tonight. Can't give up over 120 points on over 55% shooting and expect to win without your leading scorer. Once again fell behind by 20 before trying to claw back. I don't want to hear the back to back excuse - they looked bad vs PHX after 2 days off. And I am weary of the "it's early" excuse. You are what your record is, which makes us mediocre.

Yea we aren't really looking like a contender at this point. I'm seeing ESPN is reporting that the Sixers have acquired Jimmy Butler. The teams above us in the East are all good teams that already seem to be clicking. It'd be nice to see our guys show some level of consistency - at this point, even for two games in a row would be a welcome sign.

I'll take the opposite tack here, although I agree we haven't been playing well and don't look like a contender.
First, of our five losses, AT Toronto, Indiana, Denver, and Utah and TO Orlando, I see only one bad loss, to the Magic - although we narrowly escaped another one in Phoenix.
Last night notwithstanding, for the most part the D has been pretty good. Our problem has been horrible shooting. Irving is back in form, but Brown, Tatum, Hayward and Horford are shooting WAY worse than what they've done in the past. If we weren't getting good shots and guys were forced to chuck up prayers I'd be concerned, but we're missing wide open 3 pointers. I'm confident that we're too good, individually and collectively for this to continue much longer, and when the team shooting slump ends we'll look a lot more like what we all expected.

I'm getting pretty concerned. They look totally different. If I were Brad I'd be very tempted to start Semi and get some defense in the first unit and have a really good 2nd unit of Baynes, Terry, Smart, and Jaylen. I'm very nervous about Hayward. Things just don't seem right at all

Mev, thanks for getting up the game thread.
My comments:
1. Irving does not fit in Boston. He is a great player, one on one, 4th quarter only. 2. BOS plays better as a team without Irving. More ball movement. 3. Hayward played a great game, and Utah fans were ruthless. 4. Rozier, to maximize his talent, has to start. He is not a 6th man. 5. BOS will not beat very good teams, like UTA, away on back to back nights.

Our problem right now is that we suck in the last 2 minutes of each quarter. Good teams make runs in each of those time frames while we are allowing runs which puts usin bad position to start the next quarter.
