I am posting here instead of the lounge so that everyone can see it. Hurricane Michael hit here on October 10 and we have a lot of damage to the house as big trees hit both ends and so we have huge holes in the ceiling and no roof. There is so much devastation that the wait for a contractor is long. We ate thankful for the army corps of engineers who are putting blue tarps on badly damaged homes.
Things are slowly getting better though. We got power back after 2 weeks which is amazing considering every pole and wires in the county were down. We got water after 3 weeks but no hot water so cold showers are the norm.
We had no cell service for the first 2 weeks since the cell towers were destroyed. We still have no landline service in the area.also no internet or cable as their whole infrastructure was taken out. Not sure when that will return.
A few stores are opening as are some gas stations so we can finally get food again instead of MREs. A lot of stores were destroyed. Every road is lined with downed trees and debris and trash. There pretty much are no trees left in this area as almost all were snapped off like toothpicks. I posted a few pictures on Instagram if you want to look.
I very much miss my Celtics and miss posting game threads. I finally was able to get a new phone so now I can post from it. I love and miss you guys. Thanks for posting game threads. Celtics started a bit slow but they are going to gel and then look out.

FL, thanks for posting. I can only imagine the damage. In May, a tornado hit my area (I reside in CT, and this is unheard of), and the damage was bad however not what like you described. Hopefully you will get help soon.

Thanks for all of your kind thoughts. Cell service is still spotty. Yesterday I didn't have any for most of the day. It's been just a month since the hurricane and we can still look up from the kitchen to see the tarp on the roof. We still haven't been able to get a contractor here and now the insurance Co is jerking us around about payment.
I called Comcast yesterday and they have no idea when service will be back as their bldg was badly damaged and all sites need to be restrung. So it may be awhile yet till I can be back making game threads and watching the Celtics. I sure miss it.

My brother in law owns/runs a division of my insurance, and when I need something I call and say "this is ---, may I speak to ---, my brother in law" and someone yells "everything stops"! On a serious note, I am surprised the insurance company has not sent out an adjuster, assessed the damage, and written you a check on the spot.

Wow. Unreal. Take your time. Take a vacation from us if you need to. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers Mev. We don't have any choice but to take time. There is so much devastation here that every resource is stretched thin. It has been 5 weeks today and finally Fema came to give us a blue roof tarp that will cover the whole roof. It will be nice not to have rain coming into the house. We still haven't been able to get a contractor here. We are on lists with a few but so is everyone in the county. No phone or cable or internet and ne estimate of when it will be back. But at least we have electric and water and are able to live in the house, which is much better than a lot of people have it. Some people are living in cars or tents or in a shelter in one of the schools. It's getting better but very slowly. Fema is supposed to be bringing in trailers this weekend for those who lost their homes completely. The best news is that cell service is a bit better now and I got Sirius XM radio on my phone and can at least listen to the games now with Grande and Max. That's my update for today. I'm always thinking about you guys and miss doing the game threads and being able to post more.

Well, still no Comcast or phone and no we are without water again. BUT we were able to get a hot spot so I can get online without having to do everything in tiny little letters on the phone. I'm going to try to do a links article for the Blog tomorrow and if that works out maybe try to do the game thread for Wednesday's game. I may even get ambitious and do a Comments from the Other side for that game. I'm hoping that the internet holds up so I can get back into doing things on here again.
