This team has quit on the coaching staff. No one cares about winning. Doc pulled Banks because of a missed assignment and the team was like 'Whatever'. Danny better wake up fast. An implosion is on its way. And our young guys continue to rot on the bench. This franchise is going back really really fast.

I was just thinking the same thing. We know that Blount, Pierce, and even Banks, had run ins with Doc since he's become head coach of the team. Ainge now has to decide if these 3 will be able to follow their leader like good soldiers, or if they are partly the reason why our team play has been declining over the past couple of weeks. Pierce and Blount are the veterans here and they may influence the attitudes of the younger players.
I'm sure Perkins is also wondering what the heck he needs to do to get on the court. He's doing everything that Rivers is asking him to do, and yet, he still sits.

I starting to agree Sprash. I still think it's early, but something to look at. His rotations have a bit to be desired. Is that him or the players and their heart.
You come to play and win. If the players can't motivate themselves, are they the players we want?

I wouldn't want to play for a horrid coach either. What's the point of trying hard? He'll just pull you in favor of a guy who doesn't try hard. He showed that again and again when he played Blount ahead of Al J and Perk. He also stuck too long with Dickau. Gerlad Green isn't even getting a sniff of the court.

I didn't watch last night's game...thank God. But by the looks of it, something major has to happen. They don't play defense, and the worst part is, I don't think anyone cares. Well, certianly not the guys getting the major minutes. Why the hell is Perk not getting the majority of the minutes. I know Blount is becoming an established scorer, but for the love of God, at least Perk plays hard. You know he is the type of guy that just hates to lose. Blount's attitude is simply, "I get paid the same no matter what". I honestly believe that if this team doesn't improve during the course of the season, Doc will be fired and Danny will coach the team himself.

You hit it right on the nose, GB. No one seems to care. This is bothersome because I'm not sure if this attitude stems from the players just having no confidence right now, or if its because there's a trade brewing and they accidentally got wind of it.

I'm not sure that the players know of any brewing trade. If they did, then someone in the media would have surely gotten a hold of it and it would be everywhere now. I just think that the older players realize they have a young team and that they aren't going to be a very good team. Because of this, they aren't going to play hard and have come to accept losing.

I agree GB. I don't think a trade is brewing just yet. Unfortunately I just think that Doc is losing the team, and they are losing faith in him, and in themselves.
This team is definitely in need of another Tommy Heinsohn, Bill Russell, or Robert Parish pep talk.

I am not sure if the team has lost faith in Doc, or itself. Perhaps a little of both. The team has been close in several games, only to lose focus right at the end. And other nights, they don't come out at all.

The defense is just horrid. We CAN be a good defensive team. We have the talent and ability. It seems like the drive is not there, and that just leads me to believe that they have temporarily given up.
This team is in dire need of a motivational speech from a former Celtic great to light a fire under their a**.

The defense is just horrid. I want to see more of Reed, Gomes and Greene.

I agree that Reed, Gomes, and Greene are good defenders, but I think our defense is bad because of our defensive philosophy as a whole team, if we even have one. We let so many teams get so many wide open looks, our guys don't rotate in time, and at times it seems as if they have no desire to play defense. Only a select few actually try to play D, Reed, West, Banks, Perk.
We need to improve our team defense I think.

Our defensive philosophy (I know its hard to believe, but we do have one) can be effective, but it can be exposed when players are not in the right places. For instance, as many of you have seen, we leave perimeter players open a lot because we sag down too much and don't recover fast enough to get a hand in the player's face. If players are going to sag, they need to be able to get back quickly.
But our lack of interior defensive players is what's hurting us. This is the primary reason why our perimeter defenders need to sag. Perkins has been a boost in this area, but he's only one man. Blount gets pushed around too easily and gives up quite a bit of points in the paint. Raef is serviceable when he can get a hand near the ball, but if he's more than a few feet away from the ball, he can't do much defensively. Jefferson is still a project on defense, though his help defense is coming along.
Getting better defensive players will make our team defense much more efficient, and it will make our average defenders look better in the process.
