Here we go!!! The 2018 NBA Draft is a few moments from starting. And though the air has been taken out of the sail, after so much anticipation the last week or so (Kawhi trade, moving up into the high lottery, all seem unlikely right now), it's still exciting to see who we will end up drafting.
So without further ado, let's do this!!!!

The first pick is DeAndre Ayton
No surprise here.
Really impressive young 7 footer. His body, his athleticism, his skills, they are all legit.

Second pick is Marvin Bagley
No doubt that Bagley is an impressive athlete, being 6'11", with his fluidity and his motor. He'll score a lot of putbacks, and from teammates finding him on drives into the paint. I just don't see him being a a top 3 player on a championship team -- more a fabulous role player.

Third pick is Luka Doncic
He's been drafted by the Hawks, but Woj announced he could be headed to the Mavericks.
This is a kid who I have high high high hopes for. He's a cerebral player who has tremendous feel for the game.

The 4th pick is Jaren Jackson Jr
Might be the best all around big man in this draft. Plays defense, can hit three's, can even handle the ball a bit.

5th pick is Trae Young
This pick was part of the deal with the Hawks. Basically swapping Luka for Trae and a future 1st round pick next year.
The Hawks are getting an entertaining player -- a scorer and assist man. But don't expect him to play defense.

6th pick Mo Bamba
The Magic haven't been able to develop their draft picks to where they become star caliber, even though they've drafted in the lottery for some time now. Bamba might not be a star offensively, but he should be able to block some shots right away.

7th pick is Wendell Carter
Ahhhh... nice, but nothing special. The Bulls, to me, seem to be adding players, but not the kind who'll take them up the ladder. Markkenen and Carter are not going to be a formidable duo.

8th pick is Colin Sexton
Not impressed with this young PG. He's a PG by height, but not by skill. CLE has drafted Dejuan Wagner 2.0.

9th pick is Kevin Knox
Getting booed by the New York fans. Oh, this is terrible. Knox has lots of talent, and if he can improve his ballhandling, and gain confidence, he can be a fantastic glue guy who does a lot of things on the court to help his team.

10th pick is Mikal Bridges
Nice pick for Philly. A guy who can be the Kris Middleton for them. Might not have a standout skill, but he does things well.

11th pick is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
SGA doesn't have a good outside shot, but he's a passing PG. Not a great prospect, and I think his lack of shooting will limit his effectiveness. Charlotte is another team (a lot like Orlando) who seem to always be in the lottery, but never come out of it with the kind of players who pull you out of pergatory.
** Woj reports that the CLippers are trading with Charlotte to get SGA.

12th pick is Miles Bridges
Not sure where his career will end up. He's athletic, strong and explosive. Loves to attack the basket. But his shot is not natural, and he doesn't have a good pull up game. He'd be great if he was 6'9" and plays PF. But he's 6'6" without a guard's game.

13th pick is Jerome Robinson
Wow, I like this guy, but didn't expect him to go this high. But I don't care, this kid is good. Has moxie, has tools on the perimeter, is cerebral, crafty. Only things are his defense, and lack of big time explosiveness.

14th pick is Michael Porter Jr
If all checks out, Denver gets a present delivered to their front door.
Now, Porter isn't a great prospect, IMO. Great shooter, really tall and gifted athlete. But soft for my taste, I don't know if he can get to the basket because defenders will bump him off track.
