I only want Kawhi if it is King/McD/Corrangelo fleece! Unfortunately, those days are gone. I bet GM’s think extra hard when they are dealing with Ainge. Not only because of his resume of getting the better end of deals, but also because the players he gets turn out better than they were before (under Brad Stevens).

Just read that the Celtics are the betting favorites to land Kawhi. Maybe they know something we don't. Do you remember where you read that? I was just getting back to posting links and found it.

I wounder if Kyrie + Morris + 2018 BOS + 2019 LAC would get it done? Because if so, sign me up. Resign TR at a reasonable rate, then we'd still have the 2019 Sac or 2020 Memphis pick to find quality, cost controlled replacement talent. And i think if we shipped out Morris, we could possibly still resign Smart and Baynes and stay under the tax (i dont buy Smart getting much over the MLE).
Look at this lineup.
Rozier Brown Leonard Tatum Al
With a bench of Smart, Hayward, Thies and Baynes. That team gives GS all it can handle. If a team doesnt have a speed demon point guard, the C's could employ a lineup of Brown, Hayward, Leonard, Tatum and Al for long stretches. That team is long as heck and would be a defensive nightmare. There would be no one in our 9 man rotation that would be even a mediocre defender. That's nuts. Plus every one of those folks has a jumper (Baynes is a work in progress obv). And when it comes to giant forwards like Giannis, Lebron and Durant, no one defense them better that Kawhi.

If Ainge can magically trade Kyrie and still have him start at PF for us, I'll be impressed.

Honestly, maybe because Jaylen and Rozier are young and inconsistent, I don't feel that lineup will compete.

Happy days, as Magic Johnson would say, are possible, because there is always a GM that is looking to make a splash.

I'd rather give the 20 year old and 21 year old some more years to see what they're gonna become. I see no reason to make a deal unless you really can get Leonard for cheap and can confirm it's not a 1 year rental.

I answered yup, but it depends on what we have to give up. I'm ok with Jaylen Brown being the biggest asset we give up, mainly because we'll be replacing him with a better version of himself. If we have to give up Kyrie, that'll be harder to swallow. As Ainge has said many times over, it's hard to find players who can score in crunch time. Kyrie shows that kind of moxie. Ditto ... He already is what we hope Brown will be and age-wise is right in between Kyrie and Hayward.

I read that SAS medical staff coined his injury as degenerative. That is a huge red flag.
