I answered yup, but it depends on what we have to give up. I'm ok with Jaylen Brown being the biggest asset we give up, mainly because we'll be replacing him with a better version of himself.
If we have to give up Kyrie, that'll be harder to swallow. As Ainge has said many times over, it's hard to find players who can score in crunch time. Kyrie shows that kind of moxie.

This isn't so black and white in my mind. There are a lot of questions I have about any trade for him. First he has just one year left on his contract and he would have to commit to an extension before I'd even consider it.
He hasn't played for almost a whole season. He had a quad injury. Why did it take so long to recover from it? Were there complications? Is he recovered now? Will he be the same player when he comes back?
What was the whole deal with the med staff saying that he was ok to play and then he didn't play. There were a lot of rumors about him not returning calls to the team and stuff like that. Did he abandon his teammates for some kind of imagined slight or was there a real reason for him not playing? I'd want to know every detail behind that whole saga an injury.
Finally, what would we have to give up. I love the core on this team and would want them to return for this season. I'd love for the whole team to come back as a matter of fact. I really don't want to give up any core players. I don't think it's worth it especially with a lot of questions surrounding Kawhi after last season.

Just read that the Celtics are the betting favorites to land Kawhi. Maybe they know something we don't.

Just read that the Celtics are the betting favorites to land Kawhi. Maybe they know something we don't. Probably because the Spurs aren't dumb enough to trade within their own conference. But the last thing we want is little assurance that Kawhi is here long term. |

If we do land Kawhi, it'll probably mean Ainge has a good feel for him re-signing next summer. I can't see how Danny sacrifices Jaylen's bright future in Boston for a one year rental.
And with adding Kawhi to Kyrie, Hayward, Tatum and Horford, we have a legit shot at upsetting the Warriors. And if we do that, it should entice Kawhi even more to stay long term.

Personally, I think we have a legit shot at upsetting the Warriors even without Kawhi. The Celtics play them very well and with a healthy Hayward and Kyrie we are going to be tough for any team to beat. Tatum and Brown should be even better than last season. We need to keep Smart, though. He is really important to our defense and defense wins championships. |

Do you remember where you read that? It was the headline on one of my Google Alerts. If I come across it again, I'll post it. I couldn't find the original one that said the Celtics were favorites but I did find one that put the Celtics second to the Lakers

But I don't see the Spurs trading him to the Lakers. I also saw this from Odds Shark with the Celtics 5th.

I'm kind of leaning toward him patching it up with the Spurs and staying there. I don't see him going to a Western team because the Spurs seem too smart for that. The Celtics have more assets than most teams to get him but the question is, who is Danny willing to give up and will Kawhi commit to an extension. If not, it isn't happening.

Not sure if he has inside info (remember that D-Wade called this a month ago), but he sounds sure.
I’m afraid to get excited about this cause i remember how bummed i was when Durant chose Golden State. I’ll just wait to see what happens.

Until then, I don't believe anything. That’s the best stance to take. But the past couple summers prove that these rumors turn out to be true. 2 summers ago, we landed Horford. Last summer we got Hayward, and then later, Kyrie. |
