Kawhi had a meeting with the Spurs yesterday. It's being reported today that he wants out from that organization. He's grown uncomfortable and is ready for a move.
I'm thinking the Spurs are probably now opening up the phone lines, listening to what offers will come their way. Gotta think Danny will give a call to see what it'll take to get Kawhi.

I don't see us trading Tatum or Hayward. Whoever it might be, it's gonna hurt, but you have to give quality to get quality. Not too long ago it stung to lose such well-liked players as IT and Jae, but few of us would now argue that it wasn't the right move to trade them for Kyrie. |

As much as possible, we need to keep the core together to play with Kawhi.
Kyrie
Hayward
Kawhi
Tatum
Horford
That is a championship caliber starting 5!!

Yes, but we have to find about another $14 million in salary to match up. Hmmm, maybe Brown plus a sign and trade with Smart. My guess is that it would take the Kings' pick too. Maybe more. We'd get a superstar and the Spurs could potentially wind up with two quality players plus a serviceable bench guy.

If so I'd still do it. A team with Kyrie, Kawhi, Hayward, Tatum and Horford can find guys to fill out the roster. It's finding great players that's hard. Good players are much easier.

I'd consider it if Kawhi's injury report came back clean.. we're risking too much with Kyrie, Hayward and Kawhi all having significant injuries.

Apparently, from a poster on another board who seems to have some inside source (and he's recognized on that forum as being legit), Danny Ainge is still interested, and still talking to the Spurs.

Kawhi was against bowing to a reptillian lord and offering his family members as human sacrifices. Either that, or he didn't like how the Suprgs handled his injury situation (I think the Spurs wanted him to consult with ONLY the Spurs specialists, but Kawhi wanted to get outside opinions). I don't know -- Kawhi never came out and said anything. |
