Listening to a guy on sports talk radio, he defends Durant and his choice to join the Warriors, and how everyone is wrong for thinking negatively about Durant.
I don't know, but if I'm Durant, I'm not sure how satisfied I can be about winning these two championships while riding on the success of what Kerr, Curry, Klay, Draymond, and even Iguodala have built. They've laid the foundation, and were champs even without Durant. KD was not the final piece to the puzzle -- he was dessert after a full 7 course meal.
He basically went and joined a championship team just to guarantee himself he'd win a championship with them.
It's like being the first to cross the finish line in a marathon, but for half the race you had people carrying you. How satisfying is it to win like that?
For that, I applaud what Lebron did in CLE's lone championship in '16. Without him, CLE does not win the title, and maybe they do not even reach the Finals.
I hope he enjoys his 25 cent plastic championship rings.

I think Durant is insecure, lacks leadership, and never finishes what he started. It is debateable he was the only reason for the last two championships. On a side note, I think Lebron James is a top-5 ever basketball player.

In all fairness he has been the best player on the Warriors. Granted he did join a stacked team but least he isn't riding on Curry or Klay's coattails...lately it seems they've been riding his. But he did accomplish what he set out to do which is to win rings.. if that was his goal, he has that ticked.
Debatable if it means as much as winning them in OKC but you really have to blame OKC's management for screwing that whole situation up. You had 3 MVPs on that team...Russ, KD and soon Harden... yet you traded away Harden for chump change. Ibaka was an All Star and if you kept them all, they'd be better than the Warriors hands down.

Durant was the best player on the Warriors My take is Curry and Thompson wouldn't be as good as they are if they weren't together on the Warriors. But Durant is elite wherever and whoever he plays for. That's why i feel he cheated his way to a championship. For instance, put him on the Jazz right now, and I think they'd be close to competing against the Warriors. But he chose GSW, who, as you said, were stacked already (were champions even without him).

Durant is elite; Lebron is GOAT.

Durant is elite; Lebron is GOAT. Definitely up there in the conversation. And after every year, it gets harder to find an argument.

James was fan-tastic this year during the playoffs. My only quip was that CLE offense was fairly predictable.

I can't blame Durant for what he did. He was a free agent, and he chose what he felt was the best option for him, and to his credit, he appears to be happy with his decision. As a basketball fan, I don't like it, but I can't fault him for it. But as soon as the Thunder traded Harden for pennies on the dollar I can't blame him for seeking out greener pastures. If a team isn't committed to spending the money it takes to build a winner, I can't blame a player for not committing to the team.

A guy like David West i have no problem with if he joins a stacked championship team as a free agent. A superstar like Durant, I have a problem with. That’s just taking the cheapest path to a championship. There’s no honor in that.

Zach Lowe's article kind of sums up what I feel about Durant. www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/23766415/zach-lowe-kevin-durant-golden-state-warriors-dynasty-nbaHe's more of a craftsman. And to him, being surrounded by players who play the right way makes him the happiest he can be when it comes to playing basketball. Tough to fault a guy for that. And he was never a true alpha dog in search of the best NBA resume ever, like Kobe was and LeBron currently is. And by his own admission, he isn't the freak that LeBron is, where he can run the entire offense and still have the energy to do everything on defense. The one guy I want to see leave GS is Klay Thompson. It's sounds like he's very happy there, but I selfishly want to see that dude on a team where he is the number one option. When that dude is feeling it, few players have ever been able to score points in a hurry like he can.

However, his recent quote of telling teams to draft better is misguided, because all 3 of GS MVPs in the playoffs were free agents.
