Al Jefferson needs to be the starting PF. He commands a double team as soon as he touches the ball. He needs to be the first option on offense. We could easily run the triangle offense with Paul, Ricky, and Al. The biggest problem the celtics have is guarding the pick and roll. Delonte and Oriene cant guard the pick and roll and thats how Al is picking up so many fouls. He is always caught rotating to stop the opposing teams point guard and because he is a big man he always gets called for the foul. We need Banks and Allen's defense. Banks is so disruptive on defense and is always in front of his man and so is Allen. That would stop the other teams from running the pick and roll 100 times a game against the celtics and Jefferson won't pick up a bunch of touch fouls. I could see the celtics starting Raef, Jefferson, Allen, Pierce, West. Take Delonte and Allen out after 6 minutes and we will have a lineup of Raef, jefferson, Pierce, Ricky and Banks. Blount, Perk, and Gomes would be in to end the quarter and play the first four minutes of the second.

Yes, I agree that he should start. But first things first:
We are really doing a lot better on our defense on pick and rolls. The big men are doing a lot better at getting up on the PG and waiting for Delonte/Greene to recover, before running back to cover their own man. Our switches are a lot cleaner and crisper and I actually think once we perfect it, we'll have a pretty good defense (once we become a consistent rebounding team).
As for Jefferson, I am very anxious to see Jefferson getting a chance. Doc needs to just let him start for a few games and let him make his mistakes and let him find his game. He's our best post scorer by far, and yet Doc never calls plays for him, and even worse, our players don't know how to get him the ball in the post (listen up, Ricky).
But here's the problem; because our offense is a free flowing offense, Jefferson will not always get X amount of touches every game. Guys like Malone, Barkley, Olajuwon, McHale, etc., knew that they were going to get their touches in the post every game. The team made an effort to get them the ball in the post. But with our offense, the ball moves around until it reaches an open man and whoever is open takes the shot. We don't intentionally call plays for Big Al during games. The only time he'll get the ball is when the ball happens to be on his side of the court when he's in the post.
I think in time, as players understand their roles, our offense will take shape. Right now, only Pierce and Ricky consistently score. All the others on the team score sporadically from game to game. But for us to be a really good team, Jefferson, Delonte, Raef, and the others will have to get involved with the scoring in every game. That way, our offense will take shape and we'll have a structured offense where everyone will know their roles.

Right now, Raef is struggling mightily with his shot. His confidence is low and he's not taking a lot of jumpers that he normally took when his jumper was fine. On his free throw attempts, he has a slight hesitation just before his release, and when a player does that, you know he's trying to baby the shot.
This is the time Doc should experiment with the Perk - Al combination at the start of the game. Let Blount (who's only contribution is his scoring) come off the bench.
