After our Game 4 loss, this is what I'm thinking

Series is now 2 - 2, and we lose again by a sizable difference. And this is what I'm thinking: we are pretty darn good.

Lebron "the best player in the NBA hands down" James, has to score 44 points and create offense for his entire team just to hold us back from going up 3 - 1 in this series.

And who are we, that he has to pour out so much offense for? Oh, just a team led by a 2nd year player who is only 21 years old -- and a rookie who just turned 20 -- and a 3rd year PG who was a D-Leaguer his first year, and is only starting because Kyrie went down -- and a team who has the Marcus chuckers (Smart and Morris) who are either hot and cold -- oh, and a team that is missing 2 top 25 players and a really solid defensive big man who was gaining steam before his injury (Theis).

CLE had to bring their best in order to beat us (away from our home) -- a team that is missing 2 All-NBA caliber players, a team no one expected to be here, but IS here and challenging a Lebron led team, and holding up more than its own.

Guys, our future is looking really Really, REALLY good.

Really, REALLY good is right. But I'm not ready to hand this series to the Cavs. We still have home court and let's remember that the Celtics whipped them twice already in Boston.

I'm wondering whether Danny will keep Hayward, Brown and Tatum, or whether there is another deal out there which could bring us a big man to balance out the roster. The latest rumor is that Towns wants out of Minny, or at least away from Thibs. Will Danny continue wheeling and dealing or will he let this group play at least one season together?

I find myself completely unconcerned about the offense next year, once Kyrie and Hayward are back. But I do wonder about our D. Would having Irving and Hayward help us at all on that end? James seems to be getting whatever he wants in these last two games. What's the answer? Brown and Tatum getting stronger?

I was wondering about this myself. Is it a bad thing to go down to the wire against the Cavs, and fall just short, or to make it to the Finals and get crushed?

I can't discount us putting up a good fight against the Warriors, but with how bad we are on the road, and how we are only at half strength, we could be looking at an embarrassing sweep.

I'm always for going as far as possible, with the possible exception of playing the Lakers. I don't think getting swept in the Finals by GS would be embarrassing. They're a great team and we're missing two All-Stars. I think it would be great for our guys to 1) beat LeBron - which no one has been able to do in the East for almost a decade and 2) play in the Finals.

One more thought ... Injuries can happen at any time. Iguodala is out tonight, and Klay Thompson just left the court with some kind of leg injury. If we were to make it to the Finals, there's no telling what kind of shape the other team might be in.

I think beating Lebron would be monumental. Not to mention giving our guys a shot at winning a championship would be huge no matter who they face or how they actually do.

There is always a non symbolic passing of the torch in the NBA. In recent years, it was DET to BOS, BOS to MIA. BOS can dethrone CLE, and end the L James era.
