It’s being reported that Phoenix, who owns the top pick, and Memphis, who owns the 4th pick, are open to trading them for the right deal.
The Suns have the pick of the litter of big men in this draft, with Ayton, Bagley, Jaren Jackson, Mo Bamba and Wendell Carter all projected to go high lottery. But they’ve already spent a lot of high draft picks on big men in previous years (Alex Len, Marquiss Chriss, Dragan Bender), and more and more the NBA is trending away from dominant big men.
They appear to be set for th future at the 2 and 3 with Devin Booker and Josh Jackson, but they still are looking for their PG. A few years ago, they experimented with Dragic, IT and Eric Bledsoe. Then they drafted Tyler Ulis. They traded for Elfrid Payton. And i don’t think they’re done searching.
Are they fishing for a PG, and dangling the #1 pick as bait?
I’d like to know what’s on Danny mind — how does he view the crop of big men in this draft?
We’re pretty much set at almost every position, but we’re thin upfront, both in the present and the future. Does he think getting an Ayton, or a Bagley, or a Bamba will shore up that concern?

Say Danny did think highly of one of this draft's big men. What would it take to get the [HASH]1 pick? Rozier and next year's Sacro pick to start, and then probably more picks. We own Clipper and Grizzly picks coming to us too, as well as our own.
I think ...
1) We're probably not going to any major changes at all this off-season. My bet is that Danny & Brad want to roll the dice next year with our current group, adding two All Stars to the bunch that is doing so well in these playoffs. If I had to bet I'd say we'll resign Smart and figure things out later.
2) The Suns would be smart to listen, but I bet they keep the pick and develop internally.
That said, it wouldn't shock me if Danny offered TR, the Kings' pick, the Clippers pick, AND the Grizzlies' pick if he really loved a big man.

I think trading the SAC pick is hard to gauge, because there is a possibility that the selection is [HASH]1 overall, hence owed to PHI, leaving a really low PHI selection (let's say bottom 8). Even the LAC, and MEM are pick protected.

First it was reported Ainge has interest in Bamba.
Now it's being said we have interest in trading up for Luca Doncic.

With there being interest to trade up for Bamba or Doncic, i think it’s safe to assume Ainge is trying to move up to picks between 3 - 6.

I have to think that if Ainge is going to move up into the top 3, or even 2, it is to secure Marvin Bagley.
On talent alone, I think DeAndre Ayton is better than Bagley -- but based on fit and need on our team, Bagley makes more sense.
As he's proved at Duke, Bagley doesn't need his number called, or plays ran for him to be a high scoring contributor. Just from cleaning the offensive glass and putting shots back up, and from running the floor with the guards, and making himself available when teammates drive to the rim, Bagley tallied up the points without having to do much isolation.
And with his motor to go get rebounds, he was a constant double double threat.
I'll take a guy like him who'll thrive off of doing the dirty work.

Or it could be Jaren Jackson.
Here's a tall and long man-child who, inspite of limited minutes (only average 21 minutes per game), shot the ball well from 3 (39%) and from the line (80%), which means he's a capable shooter.
At his height (6'11", with a 7'5" wingspan), he shouldn't be able to attack the basket off the dribble like he can -- very impressive.
Hmmm, maybe Jackson is the chip Ainge is really targeting.
