Just checked Marcus Smart's game logs so far this season, and came up with the following stat for the first 40 games:
When MS shoots 11 or more shots a game, we are 7-6.
When he shoots 10 or fewer shots a game, we are 21-4. (MS missed two games.)
I heard Kyle Draper this morning on the radio in Portland, ME, and he was saying what we all pretty much know, which is that the more MS shoots the worse the team does. Why can we all see this and not Smart, his teammates and the coaches?

He should be fined for every shot he takes and misses over 8 per game.

Yeah, confidence is great. But so is self-knowledge. Gotta know what you're good at.

Every time I watch Smart shoot, I think his mechanics are good, however I read several blogs where they state his mechanics change shot to shot, which is the reason his FG% is awful.

For me, Smart leads the Celtics in shots where I go "no no no no Yes!!" I always hate it when he shoots a 3 and then when we need one the most he hits it. But I agree that he shoud not shoot as much, but they leave him wide open out there and so he pretty much has to take the shot. Just wish he made more of them.

I find myself wondering who loses playing time next year when Hayward returns and claims 30+ minutes per game. And I keep thinking (hoping?) that it's Smart. Precisely because teams leave him wide open and he still can't knock it down, he kills the offense. He's also a major ball stopper, so ball movement suffers when he's out there. I think he's miscast as a PG. We need either Terry R to step up and claim the backup PG role once and for all, or go out and get a true PG. If Smart absolutely has to be out there for defensive reasons, have him stand in the corner, not orchestrate the offense. I hate it when he has the ball at the end of the quarter and you just know that he's going to dribble down the clock and then huck up a clunker.

If Smart is resigned, BOS has 5 players without Smart commanding 30 minutes a game, which leaves a total of 50 minutes. Brad loves Smart. However, let's say the C's cash LALs pick, then BOS will be the GS of the east in luxury tax. Wyc, and Pags want to win, but they want to make a profit too, and the repeater tax is a killer.
