Here's the genius of Danny Ainge. If he became the GM of the Orlando Magic (whom we demolished tonight), he'd start trading off his players for draft picks and assets that can lead to other trades. But too many GM's don't think like him. As is, the Magic have nice players in Vucevic and Aaron Gordon, who could fetch at least a 1st round pick and possibly expiring contracts. But their GM holds onto them, and they'll be bad again this year, and next year.
Danny would probably turn their franchise around in 5 years.

I'm not sure he would turn it around that quickly. You'd need a sucker like the Nets to give up so many picks that are unprotected. Noone does that anymore.
That said, there are quite a few moves that look like head-scratchers now. - trading for Ibaka and giving up Oladipo AND their first round pick in 2016 - drafting Mario Hezonja in 2015 which is looking like a massive bust but at that time, he was considered a very good sharpshooter - drafting Elfrid Payton wasn't the worst thing to do but he was always considered a pass-first guard without much of a scoring game...for a team at that point which badly needed some sort of scoring boost
I think the real challenge for Danny is if he were given the Nets to turn around..or the Knicks.
