When Hayward went down, Coach Brad had to adjust his projected lineup, and rookie Jayson Tatum was thrown into the starting lineup. And he's done an admirable job. But Hayward's injury had a ripple effect in other areas too.
One of the decisions Brad has been debating, and experimenting with, is whether to start Baynes, or now a healthy Marcus Morris.
Last night, He started Morris at the 4, with Horford at the 5. We jumped out to a great start (believe we had a 13 pt lead), but when the bench came in, we struggled to maintain our rhythm. Part of it was because the bench shot the ball poorly (a putrid 4 - 26, for a total combined 13 pts coming from 6 guys). But I also think it's partly because the bench lacks a guy who can go get points.
Smart, Rozier, Baynes, Theis, Larkin and Semi off the bench rely more on getting good looks generated by our system -- in essence, they are good role players and complementary scorers. This bench lacks natural scorers who can score in less than optimal conditions and situations.
With that said, I like having Marcus Morris off the bench. I really like this kid -- his toughness, his attitude, his versatile game, and especially his ability to take the ball and make something happen. It would seem optimal to have a scorer like him off the bench to help even out the scoring load.

I think it depends on who we're playing. For example, I think Morris matches up better with Draymond Green than Baynes does. Baynes can play when Zaza is in the game. On other teams, say Charlotte, Baynes is a better matchup with Howard. I think you'll see Brad alternating between the two, and maybe even Theis, although I like his energy off the bench.
