So far:
- Gordon Hayward looks like he hasn't found his role on offense. Doesn't mean he's not looking good -- just that he doesn't look like he knows where his offense will come from.
- Al Horford looks he's been freed to grab rebounds, do more freelancing in the offense structure, and he just looks younger, lighter and quicker.
- Jaylen hasn't shined. His shots aren't falling, he's sort of invisible, but maybe he's doing his job on defense.
- Smart is not recognizable on the court. He's lost significant weight, and I'm not used to seeing him without the girth. He's a lot slimmer, he's more shifty with the ball, and with the sleeve on his arm, sometimes I mix him up with Kyrie. He's definitely impacting the game.
- Jayson Tatum is not your ordinary rookie. Plays cool and like a veteran. And can you believe that Brad says he's been doing good on defense? Wasn't that the biggest knock on Tatum? This kid is on his way to stardom.

Add in that Irving is as good as advertised, and Baynes is high production in low minutes. I agree with Smart; his weight loss makes him unrecognizable.

3 preseason games in, and our guys look good, and we're playing well as a team.
Smart, so far, has looked like the most improved player. A body make over, confidence soaring sky high, crisper dribbling, penetrating the lane, attacking the basket, hanging in the air, more efficient shooting form, making more of his jumpers, etc. Will be great if he can average 15 ppg off the bench.
Rozier looks like he has an idea of what he wants to do with the ball in his hands. Not just empty fancy dribbling. He's more straight line now, which allows him to finish right at the basket.

Rozier impressed me the other night. He shows flashes of being able to penetrate the paint; just needs to finish more consistently.

I enjoy watching Tatum out there, he does seem like he fits, and should see some playing time. I thought we signed a new smart, he just looks so different. I like theis in the first game, but not the third, maybe stuff just wasn't going his way
13 instead of 12 man rosters huh? Must be because one team only field 7 players in a game last season, good idea i think.

So far....
I don't think Gordon Hayward has shined. I'm confident he will, but he's still feeling his way to find his new role. I don't think he knows exactly what he should be doing. Should I pass it? Should I take the shot? Should I drive and take it all the way to the hoop? Is it ok if I get a bit greedy and try to take my man off the dribble and do my thing? Will I ruin our pass happy culture if I do that too much? But is that what's expected of me, since I'm getting paid all this money? If I average 17 ppg, will that sit well with me earning a max contract?
Watching Kyrie, he's out there having fun, doing what he wants to do, mixing in a good combination of passing and taking his shots, all the while making quick decisions.
Gordon on the other hand seems to be thinking too much.

It seems like we're getting a lot more wide open shots, and we're hitting them. This year's team seems to be a better passing and better shooting team than last year.

It seems like we're getting a lot more wide open shots, and we're hitting them. This year's team seems to be a better passing and better shooting team than last year. What a difference! In previous years, we ranked among the top for three pointers shot per game -- but our made % was low. This year, we have better shooters, and we also have players who have improved their shooting (looking at you Smart, hope your shooting continues) -- which means we should be converting more.

What all of you said... I think Hayward has been deferring to other players more and so hasn't really found his place in the offense. But he is a very good player and I expect him to figure it out and begin to shine in Brad's system. He is made for it.
Marcus is impressive. He fixed his shot and lost the weight and is much quicker but hasn't lost any of his strength. Rozier looks improved as well. Word is that both worked exceptionally hard this summer to improve.
So far, it seems Danny made the right pick in the draft. Fultz seems immature and his shooting form is truly bizarre, especially on free throws. And I wouldn't want Ball simply because his dad is a side show we just don't need. I don't care how good he is. In the meantime, Tatum is mature, has a high bb IQ and plays much smarter than a rookie.
