He certainly has his critics, and he'll be hard pressed to step into IT's shoes after the offensive year he had last season. But I do believe Kyrie has a chance to be a better fit offensively than IT was for us.
Quite simply, Kyrie can do all that IT does -- and more. He can drain 3's all day long, drive and pull up midrange, and take it to the basket and finish in spectacular fashion. But where Kyrie adds another dimension is in the post. Brad can legitimately have Kyrie post up his man in isolation and count on him to score. Brad could NEVER use IT this way. This opens up more options in our playbook, he has more unique offensive sets to confuse teams.
Also, IT could only play the 1. At 5'8", you're pretty much guaranteed NOT to be used anywhere else. With Kyrie, Brad has the option of using him at the 1, 2 and sometimes even 3 (if we want to play super small and super fast).
Brad unleashed IT's strengths and turned him into a 29 ppg All-Star. It'll be exciting to see how Brad unleashes Kyrie's talents and brings out the best in him.

All very good points Derren. Danny said that he thinks that Kyrie can get better and he has yet to enter his prime. I think IT is at his peak and may never have a better season than he already has had, especially if that hip hinders him again in the future. His height does limit him also. But I fear that no one on this team now has the heart and fight of both Jae and IT. Their energy was contagious. I know that Smart has that kind of fight and heart - hopefully he will be a leader and bring that to his teammates as well.
I know that Anna Horford said on twitter that we should expect Al to play with more fire this season. Maybe because now he knows the system and will be a leader on the team. That would be great to see.

I want Smart and Kyrie to lead this team with their swag and fight. Let them set the tone for the team.
