Watch what Chris Mannix said on CSNNE: www.csnne.com/video/mannix-why-anthony-davis-celtics-not-crazy-thoughtTo sum up what he said, he's been hearing, while at Las Vegas, that if the pairing of DeMarcus and AD together doesn't right the sinking ship, Ainge will make a strong run to get Davis. We still have a boatload of 1st round draft picks, and an excess of young players. Here's why I think New Orleans MIGHT do this trade. They are stuck in mediocrity -- they're not bad enough to get a top draft pick, and they're hovering around the middle of the pack. That's not the way to get better. And free agents obviously aren't dying to play in NOLA. It is only a matter of time before Anthony Davis becomes a free agent, and I don't see any reason why he'd stay if he wants a chance to compete for a title. If they're bad enough, and they realize it is time to cash in on Davis, if we offer them IT and a handful of high draft picks, I think we'll be in the conversation. IT can still be the go to scorer and the face of the franchise for the Pelicans. The Pelicans can then decide if they want to keep IT beyond the season, or let him be a free agent. In any case, they'll still have the draft picks to start over and rebuild.

I wonder if the chance to go after AD had any part in why we didn't offer Indiana substantial assets for Paul George?
Don't know how true Pritchard's comments were, about Danny's offer. But maybe Danny tempered his offer, realizing that if AD has a chance to be available, he'll need as many assets as he can put together.
