We've just lost our primary bigs. Amir is now in Philly, and Zeller & Olynyk will soon be playing for different teams as well.
So we just got rid of 3 bigs who played the bulk of the minutes at the 5.
Unless Brad thinks 6'9" is the new 7', it seems we can expect Ainge to get us at least one Center.
Zizic is not ready for a big role yet. Theiss is 6'9", Yabusele is 6'8" and Ojeleye is 6'7" -- and all 3 need time to develop, and they're not yet the answer.
Without an inside presence, especially on defense, CLE will continue to pound us inside and on the boards. This is a serious chink in our armor.
Anyone have any idea who we're rumored to be targeting?

Not sure how this is going to work, but Nikola Vucevic (whom we did have interest in, according to Blakely, as reported back on Jan 28) has 2 more years left on his current contract, at an affordable (roughly) 12.5 mil per year.
Still only 26 years old, this 7 foot, 240 lbs Center is a double double machine.
Defense is not his calling card, but at least he'll rebound. And his offense is a plus for a Center.

I understand we need some big bodies, but I'm not terribly concerned. Amir started but was typically playing about 12 minutes in the playoffs. Zeller didn't play at all unless it was a blowout. And KO was so inconsistent that you could never count on him. We can do better. There are a lot of guys out there who can give us some rebounding, but don't be surprised to see Horford playing a lot of center this year. With the Nets pick still in our pockets, and the '18 draft shaping up as loaded with big men, I don't see us signing anyone long term anyway. Bogut, McGee and others are probably available for one year, maybe two.

I expect Horford to play a lot of minutes at the center spot while the young guys like Tatum/Brown will see minutes between both forward spots. If Ainge does anything he should look at a couple vet minimum players to be placed on roster in case of an injury. Also, I believe Hayward was playing some 4 for Jazz in their small ball roster.

According to several sources, Danny may be targeting Marc Gasol. The Grizzlies are reeling a bit from the loss of Zbo and possibly Tony and so may be open to a trade for some rebuilding assets.
Bogut has also been mentioned as a vet min signing.

I don't get that move. How would we do it? To fit Hayward in, we need to shed more salary than we take on. I think Gasol makes around 24 mill. We would need to package AB, JC, IT4 and Smart just to get to that. Unless this would involve moving horford. . .

Draymond Green is 6'7 and plays both the 4 and 5 spot. Its a trend thats happening in the NBA where teams are becoming smaller, faster and more agile. And truth is, the only team with a threat on the big man side is the Pelicans. Lets GSW handle them whilst we focus on the competition in the East.

You can get away with playing smaller guys at Center, but they need to be exceptional talents.
Draymond, though 6'7", can still box out and rebound, plus defend much bigger guys.
Ben Wallace could do the same.
We can't just plug in anyone and hope for the same -- they need to be a special kind of player. We can't plug in Crowder, for example, though he's the same height as Draymond, and think he'll do a good job.

I can see the Kings signing Ollynk. They need a floor stretcher badly.
