That said...who knows what will happen next year...If we strike gold and end up with a big man as our top draft pick, things might change. All I know is that I trust Coach to make the right calls whatever they may be.

Time to rehash this thread.
Not only do we now have too many guaranteed players (we have 16 players competing for 15 positions), but we also have too many young and inexperienced players.
For a team looking to compete against Cleveland, and maybe even the Warriors, this is not the preferred or the logical way to do it.
Something has got to give. What we need is a more seasoned bench who can be counted on "right now" (not down the line) to produce and hold down the fort. Think Eddie House, Sam Cassell, James Posey, PJ Brown, Scot Polard back in 2008. Now, that was a bench!

I can see Danny doing a 3 for 1 or 2 for 1 trade of a couple of our young guys for a veteran player. He can sweeten the trade with a draft pick or two. I can also see him cutting a player as he did RJ Hunter last season after training camp.

I think that's likely -- a 2 for 1 trade. Cutting a player will not solve the problem of our bench being young and inexperienced.
Zizic Yabusele Ojeleye Theis Rozier Nader Tatum Jaylen
That's a lot of youth and inexperience!! As much as we like them, they're no sure thing to produce right away.

The roster is odd. Half veterans, half rookies. Something has to give.

I wouldn't expect any major trades.. possibly release one of the guarantee contracts that are on the roster. I believer Nader and/or the other 2nd rounders do not have much a guarantee contract. Hopefully Tatum/Brown take it up a notch and get into the starting lineup so Crowser and Smart can provide some added veteran presence from the bench prospective.

Neither do I. If anything, maybe a trade to relieve us from having too many young and inexperienced players for a more solid and stable veteran bench player.

I'm thinking there will be a minor trade to swap a couple of young guys for a vet for the bench. But, I heard one of the WEEI guys saying that he thinks that Danny is still going to make another big trade for another star. There's no telling which Danny is going to do. I guess it depends on whether another star becomes available.

Yeah, Ian Thomsen thinks Danny is loading up the suitcase just in the event that a superstar becomes available.

The roster is odd. Half veterans, half rookies. Something has to give. But the rookies aren't all typical rookies. Zizic has been playing pro ball in Europe since he was 16. Theis has won three German championships in a row and was defensive player of the year last season in the German league. He has also played for his national team. Yabusele has also been playing pro ball for 4 years. Nader played a year with the Red Claws and was rookie of the year there. Tatum is a player who is much more mature than his age and plays that way. They aren't the typical college freshmen coming into the league. I think that will make a big difference.
