While we wait for Gordon Hayward to make his decision, most of the popular free agents have already been taken off the market. By Wednesday, there may not be any enticing guy to go after.
Could Ainge's next move this summer be through a trade? Especially if we sign Hayward, we'll be stacked at SF. It could be the Jae Crowder has built up enough interest around the league that he may be able to fetch us something nice. We still have a crowded backcourt with Bradley, Smart and Rozier.
We still need frontcourt depth, as Zeller is gone and possibly Olynyk too, meaning we have no 7 footer on the team.
There always looms the possibility of a trade with Trader Dan.

There are a lot of teams that would love to have Crowder, especially on his current contract. I just don't know what kind of player we'd be getting back at that salary. Maybe we do a sign and trade with KO, with Crowder part of the deal.

For the most part, in Crowder's pay range, I'd much rather keep him. There may be a 2 for 1 trade. But, I'm hoping that Hayward comes to Boston and then the trade will be to open cap space and not to bring in a player we will need to depend on.

At some point, if we need more frontcourt depth, would we be open to a Crowder for Okafor trade?
I personally don't like that one because we'd be helping Philly out by taking an unwanted player, and givingthem one who can help them.

No, I don't want to trade Crowder for Okafor. First it would put a very tough player in our division very set on making us pay. Second, I don't think Okafor is that good. Philly fans don't like him at all and last season wanted him off the team even without a player in return. It may be a case of blossoming in a different system or environment though but wouldn't want to trade Crowder. He's too good of a player.

Do not give anything of value for Okafor. He'll be available for nothing after this season if we wanted him.

I think if Okafor was on the team, Brad will find some way to utilize his low post scoring abilities -- even if it's just a few spot minutes off the bench.
But yeah, the question is, do we just wait until he's bought out, released or becomes a free agent, and then take our chances?
At this point, I'd be willing to give up a later 1st rounder at best for him.

I highly doubt Crowder would be traded for Okafor, since PHI/BOS were rumored as potential trading partners when PHI signed A Johnson (like a sign and trade deal).

We're pretty close to being done with free agency. If we're going to add anyone significant, it'll have to be via trade.
We've added additional scoring help, which was a priority. We added more versatility, especially on the wings.
Still, the one area where we are thin at is down low. We need another impact big man. Gotta think that Ainge has something up his sleeve.

I'm actually thinking that we don't need help down low. We're almost all wings except for IT. Yes we might have trouble with other big men but there aren't many left in the NBA. If we played GSW, its a guy like Draymond Green at 6'7 who we would be banging with down low. I say we roll with Horford and Zizic and see how we go.

We can force Golden State to go big by killing them inside. Force them to adjust to us and not play their death lineup.

I disagree..GSW knows how to handle big lineups. They play in a conference with big men lineups and still beat em all. The West has Gobert, Gasol (Marc), A.Davis, Cousins, Towns...hasn't stopped GSW. If they're going to lose, its because a team is going to go right at them with good ball movement and attacking their guards Curry and Klay.. Because taking on Green (DPOY) and Durant isn't going to work. Saw way too many Durant blocks in the Finals when people tried to go down low...

Yeah, there's a reason why they are ridiculously good. They play on a completely different level from any team in the NBA.
But we did beat them TWICE, on their own homecourt mind you. Brad knows something about beating them.

Yup and we did it with undersized Horford at the 5. So we improved on our wings for more offensive punch which means we should stick to our previous strategy that has now gotten an added boost rather than changing how we attack them fundamentally.

And maybe that's why we are loading up on versatile 6'7" - 6'9" players who can play multiple positions, and do a multitude of things. That's why Tatum over Fultz.
