Do you guys want this injury prone, heavy footed SF who shoots 3's at a good, not great, clip?
Seems Danny has been after him for awhile, and Ainge knows his stuff more than any of us. He see's something in Gallinari that I don't fully get.
Mannix says, if there's no one else, and this is the year we have to spend, he'd go for it.
Would you?

Similarly to my last post I will also not discuss back up plans.

Similarly to my last post I will also not discuss back up plans. So how's your pull up jumper been falling lately?

I hope not. Never really liked him much and don't see how he fits. Doesn't address any weak areas (rebounding, interior D). I also don't understand why we have to spend this year? I'm hoping we stick to what we have and let Tatum and Brown get more playing time.

Sources: Clippers presentation made a strong impression on free agent Danilo Gallinari in Los Angeles today. They've long coveted him.
He may be gone before Hayward makes his choice. Maybe he will hold off making a decision because he'd rather come east.

NO! Maybe the stupidest thing I've ever heard on talk radio was at the last trading deadline in Feb 2017. Lou Merloni said on WEEI in Boston that he'd trade the Nets '17 pick straight up for Gallinari. OMG. The guy is just not anywhere near that good. Danny has avoided the stupid move so far and I hope he can continue to do so.

I would prefer we ride Brown/Tatum over Gallo as I don't see Gallo as a player who add more value than what we get out of Crowder.

I seriously feel that Crowder has been underrated. I don't want to make a move just to make a move. I'd rather keep the team we have than go for a free agent just for the sake of going for a free agent.

With both needing more playing, especially if Hayward is here, Crowder will be blocking their way. It is very unfortunate for Crowder, who has been a terrific Celtic. The younger guys in back of him have more talent and abilities.

I don't see Danny making a move just to make a move, especially at a position where we have two young guys who will be earning minutes as they improve. Getting an all-star would be different. I know the sports media will brand Ainge a failure if he doesn't sign or trade for anyone, but I really don't think he cares.

The thing is, we've drafted a bunch of guys who have the potentially to be solid bench players with more upside than Crowder.
If things fall into place, Yabusele and Semi can handle PF minutes. Nader can handle SF minutes. And then we have Tatum and Brown knocking on the door, maybe as early as this season. Those are 5 young guys Brad has to find minutes for.
As much as I like Crowder, who is a proven veteran, a defensive presence and a solid 3 pt shooter, every one of those guys above may have a higher ceiling than him.
If all we had were James Young, RJ Hunter, Jabari Bird, etc, then by all means, I'm holding onto Crowder unless a overwhelming trade offer comes my way. But with the young guys we have now, it opens the door for Crowder to be traded.

Back to Gallinari, if he won't cost much, and we factor in that he's automatic to miss games sometimes, and if we can utilize him more at PF, then I'm ok with him.
I think he needs to slim down some. It'll help him become a bit quicker.
