I've read several people today saying that Danny should be fired for not doing anything while George and Butler were traded. I'm glad that Danny has the patience not to force anything. All signs pointed to George still planning to leave for the Lakers next year. Danny could have traded the picks and players and then next year we are left without what could be a [HASH]1 or 2 pick and without young players who may develop to be stars.
We hear that so and so was offered etc but we don't know the whole story and we don't know all the details and so we can't really say that Danny didn't do the right thing. Danny is looking two moves ahead and isn't going to sacrifice the future for a move for this year. I'm glad that he is patient and I'm glad that he doesn't make rash decisions because that's how teams struggle year after year and get nowhere.
Danny built a championship team in 2008 and has done a very good job of keeping the Celtics contending without hitting rock bottom and spending years at the bottom of the lottery. He knows what he's doing and second guessing him really doesn't get us anywhere.

Agreed. Even to those people I'd say the rumors showed we offered some really good deals to the Pacers and they just were not willing to wait. In the end, they took a worse deal. So it's not like he didn't try to get George (not sure about Butler). It's easy to get restless when other teams are pairing all-stars, but I don't think we've missed out on anything yet. At the end of the day, we have the luxury of sitting on all our picks and trying to build through picks. Trading for stars and trying to draft stars is not a given so either option is viable. It's just nice that we seem to have good cohesion without our organization (Stevens-Ainge) that are looking to build something as opposed to just compete for a given season.

I had one or two doubts when Danny was missing on those first rounder picks..there has been quite a few that just haven't worked out. James Young, RJ Hunter, Fab Melo, JaJuan Johnson.. but when it comes to managing the cap and being better at making trades and deals, Danny is one of the best. Overall the positives outweigh the negatives by a good amount.

No question Danny has some misses. Everyone does. Even Red did. He also has made some great picks. Avery at 19. Rondo at 21. Tony Allen at 24. Jefferson at 15. If you look at the Jeff Green year, getting Ray for Green (the [HASH]5) was a great decision. The fact is, teams RARELY find really good players after the first half of Round 1. (San Antonio does a better job than anyone.) It does happen, but the odds are against you. Take a look at this: www.82games.com/nbadraftpicks.htm The right hand column gives a good summation.
