Paul George has been traded to Oklahoma City. Oladipo and Sabonis headed to Indy. @ramonashelburne first reported.
There goes that. I hate it when teams ask twice as much from Boston and then get way less from another team. If that is indeed all they are getting back, Boston had a better package. But then again maybe they wanted to trade him out of the conference.

Well...this is why I gotta stop reading all the rumors. Not one single rumor mentioned OKC and here we are. I'm assuming there's more to the trade than just the 2 for 1? Even so, OKC made out like bandits although we don't know if George is willing to stay past the year.

Even so, OKC made out like bandits although we don't know if George is willing to stay past the year. As late as today, I saw a report that PG was still talking about being in LA next year. So they are still taking a chance that this is just a one year rental. Word this week was that Indy was asking for a couple of starters along with two draft picks. Danny balked at the picks. Indy got two good players who can be starters from OKC so we have to see when the dust settles if they got some draft picks also.

There's no way we could do that trade with the picks they obviously wanted. I like OKC's willingness to risk it as they obviously need to do something for Westbrook after losing Durant. I'm interested to see what the trade details.
It seems more and more likely than Danny is willing to just hold onto everything he has and build with the draft. Maybe he still gets Hayward this year, but I don't think we'll see much wheeling and dealing cause there's not much out there.

Oh well. Keep building our team the old fashion way -- through draft and development.

Per Jeff Goodman: That's definitely a better deal than what they got from OKC. Royce Young has said no draft picks in the Indy/OKC trade. I have to believe that there is something else at play here that we don't know about. Either Danny got confirmation that PG is set on going to LA and wouldn't sign an extension and didn't want to give up that much for a one year rental or Pritchard decided that he didn't want PG in the Eastern conference.

I've read several people saying that Danny couldn't make the PG trade until after seeing if they get Hayward and Indy wasn't willing to wait. I'd say Indy is the one that missed out. Now on to Plan A and then Plan D and beyond Plan B for George is out and Plan C for Griffin is out. So, after Hayward decides (Plan A) we pick up the pieces and go on to who is left. I really hope we get Hayward but I worry about that too. He likes Utah and they are settled there. Utah made a move to get Rubio to improve. And that snake in the grass Pat Riley may blackmail him or some other nefarious plan to get him. I hope Brad can convince him to come to play for him.

This tells me the following things in no particular order.
1. Boston wasn't offering much
2. A reason Boston wasn't offering much was they had no assurance PG would resign
3. OKC had cap room and was concerned (quite rightly) that they had no ability to get free agents
4. OKC is idiotic. This pretty much seals it. At one point they had Westbrook, Durant, Ibaka, and Harden. Now they have Westbrook, Steve Adams, and PG for a whole year.
5. OKC is desperate. VO and Sabonis for a year of PG? Are you kidding me?
6. PG really wants to go to LA. Like really bad.
7. Boston is holding the line. No top 5 picks for stuff that isn't off the charts awesome. Off. The. Charts.

One kinda fun thing about this is now we get to probably keep Avery (or maybe Jae Crowder).

Just read that ATL and CLE both made good offers for PG. Thoughts are that Indy felt better trading PG out of the conference, whether they got an offer that wasn't as good or not.

Surprise IND did not want to wait to see if they could get a better off after July 1st unless Boston already said they're not interested in trading for George.

From Jeff Goodman
Most of the NBA execs I have talked to since Paul George trade feel that Kevin Pritchard was just too hell-bent on keeping George out of Eastern Conference; made it emotional instead of taking the best offer.

From Woj:
Pacers wanted Crowder, Smart and multiple 1st Rounders from Celtics.
Boston wasn't ready to close deal before signing Hayward.
Pacers lost out because they weren't patient. And then there is the get him out of the East factor.
