No doubt, if we acquire both Hayward and George, our starting unit is exponentially better than last year's. And if Zizic is all he is cracked up to be, than we have a starting 5 that can rival (almost) any starting 5 in the league.
But to get to this point, we're going to have to dismantle the bench that we were using, in order to cut salaries to bring in Hayward and afford George.
Last year, the main players on our bench were Olynyk, Jerebko, Smart, Rozier and Jaylen (and to a lesser extent, Gerald Green and Tyler Zeller).
It looks like all except for Smart and Jaylen will be gone.
We will need to restock and replenish our bench, otherwise we will come short of our goal of beating CLE and GS.
We drafted Ojeleye, Allen and Bird ....... but all 3 may end up in the D-League (at least, it's probably safer to assume they will).
But even if they all go to Maine, we are probably looking at last year's rookies to be a part of our bench. Abdel Nader and Guerschon Yabusele could be with the Celtics, after proving themselves at the D-League level.
If this happens, we're looking at a very young and inexperienced bench:
Smart, Jaylen, Tatum, Yabusele, Nader and Theiss.
Ainge has a lot of work ahead of him.

A lot of work, but the hard part would be getting the stars on board. I don't worry about filling in around them.

I wonder which back-end-of-their-career players will be willing to come here for cheap? Maybe Luc Richard Mbah a Moute? Darren Collison? Andrew Bogut? Dante Cunningham? Shelvin Mack? Spencer Hawes? Matt Barnes? Thomas Robinson? Terrence Jones? Taj Gibson?

I think Donatas Moteijunas would love to have a chance to show the world his back is fine and that he can play

Andray Blatche is 30 and I think he just finished the 2nd year of a three year 7.5mill deal. Not sure if he'd take a pay cut to come here or if there's any kind of out clause

Tony Allen (he still loves Boston) Tiago Splitter celticsgreen.proboards.com/post/new/10263Vince Carter I think they'd all be good additions to the bench. Brandon Bass is a good locker room guy and glue buy but not sure how much he has left on the court.

Brandon Bass would be a pretty solid bench piece if he has anything left in the tank. I like Taj Gibson too but I think someone will give him some decent $$$. Possibly the Timberwolves.

Paul Pierce was waived by the Clippers. How about him in a PJ Brown role?

Paul Pierce was waived by the Clippers. How about him in a PJ Brown role? I don't know if he has anything left in the tank, but we do need veteran leadership off the bench. I can only imagine how many good things he can teach Jaylen Brown, how to be effective without relying on great leaping ability and quickness.

I imagine PP will be around in some capacity, but his playing days are over.

I imagine PP will be around in some capacity, but his playing days are over. Agreed! Give PP an asst coach job. On court he just doesn't have it anymore
