Pritchard won't get anything like that. Gotta walk away from that Nope. And playing hardball won't work for him. He's at a disadvantage, knowing that he's holding onto a ticking time bomb that he needs to release. If someone out bids us, then so be it. We cannot lose both lottery picks next year.

If Hayward wants to win, I don't see how he picks MIA. He either stays with Utah who went deep into the playoffs, is keeping their core intact, and just added a hard nosed guard in the draft (Donovan Mitchell). Or he chooses us, a 53 win team that went to the conference finals, just added another high ceiling draft pick with more to come in the upcoming drafts, and with the potential to get Paul George.
Even without George, we should be the [HASH]1 or [HASH]2 in the east.
Miami is far behind both of us.

Any chance that an opportunity to mentor Jaylen and Jayson would be attractive? Or would they simply be seen as competition for playing time?

Agreed, but you never know what agents are whispering in a player's ears. Or maybe the wife is saying "I don't mind moving, but let's only do it once".

If Hayward wants the money, he should stay in Utah. If he wants good weather and more public exposure, he can go to Miami (and if that's what he cares about, I don't want him). But if he wants to have the best shot at winning a championship, aside from joining the Warriors or Cavs, we have the next best odds.
If he wants to come to a winning organization with excellent management, owners, coaches, facilities and fans, Boston is the place to be.

I'm starting to think that Hayward is more likely than George - who it's being reported has told friends that he WILL be a Laker in '18-'19. I don't know how these things work, whether Danny would have any opportunity to feel out the George camp prior to a trade, but it's hard to believe we'll give much for a one year rental with little chance of resigning him. I'm ok with not getting George if the alternative is overpaying.

Which is why Danny seems really against giving up either 2018 picks for George. If he's a rental, there's no way we ought to give up something as value as even one of those picks.

Nope. I'd say he needs to get at least 2 first rounders to save face. Give him the LAC pick, our 2018 or 2019 [HASH]1, and the rights to Yabu.

The issue I have is that I don't see us as being a much better destination to win a championship than Utah unless we get Paul George. I say they're about equal currently unless you know, for a fact, that Paul George is coming to Boston. Obviously, the picks make our future brighter, but how many players enjoy waiting for things to prosper? How many years will he have to wait for the picks to develop? They're gonna look at the current group and go based on that. If we do that, we see a Jazz team that won 2 less games in a harder conference than the Celtics, and got swept by a team that beat the team the Celtics lost to 4-1. Gobert, Hill, and Hayward is a pretty nice group if they can get another piece. Same as IT, Hortford, and Hayward would be nice if they could get another piece. I think we really gotta get George or something brewing to tilt the decision in our favor.

I've read that the offensive system that Quinn Snyder runs is not the best suited for Hayward's talents. I don't know, that's what I read.
Hayward, knowing Brad and how Brad will use him, might find it better for his career to come to Boston. Maybe that's why the Heat are also involved, because in Miami Hayward can have a higher usage.

Utah better hope to hold onto Hill this offseason otherwise, they could see Hayward go elsewhere.

Utah better hope to hold onto Hill this offseason otherwise, they could see Hayward go elsewhere. They just traded for Rubio (for a 1st round pick). Seems unlikely to me they keep George Hill now. Which makes it more likely that Hayward is moving on. Utah needs to free up money to re-sign Joe Ingles too.
