In addition to Jayson Tatum, with the 37th pick we picked Semi Ojeleye, with the 53rd pick we picked Kadeem Allen, and with the 57th pick we took Jabari Bird .
Tatum is a 6'8" long limbed, highly skilled and polished, mature 19 year old who gives us a future scoring option and rebounding Point Forward (if Coach Brad wants to use him in that role).
Ojeleye is a 6'8" beast. Incredibly strong (stronger, quicker, more explosive than Jae Crowder), quick and explosive leaper, very skilled near the paint, can absorb contact and finish instinctively, and my favorite part is he can knock down 3's. I remember in his workout video (in which Danny was present in the background), Ojeleye smoothly knocked down 3 after 3 after 3. Between Ojeleye and Yabusele, we have 2 bulls who can knock down 3's.
Kadeem Allen is a smaller combo guard who is a bit old. Defense is his strong suit, and combining his quickness, his long reach and fairly strong frame, along with tenacity, he could become a favorite of Brad Stevens in no time. As a defender, I like him better than Demetrius Jackson.
Jabari Bird is another guy I'm not familiar with. Maybe he's the 2017 version of Gabe Pruitt. Nice size for a SG and is a consistent 3pt shooter. He played with Jaylen Brown last year at Cal, and maybe Jaylen endorsed him.

Looks like most mock drafts had Ojeleye going around 23-24, so to get him at 37 seems like a steal. Sounds like he has a real chance to contribute.
Seems like Danny is continuing his trend of picking guys who already have NBA bodies, as he did last year.
Can't wait to see them all in summer league.

I didn't realize Jabari Bird was a McDs All American and Kadeem Allen was JUCO player of the Year. It's something I guess. I suppose they are possible depth just in case guys like Marcus Smart and Rozier get traded or horribly injured. Or there's the outside possibility in heck that a team like the Pacers said "We like these guys. They could possibly not hurt in a trade this summer."
Maybe they agreed to be Euro stashed like Marcus Thornton a couple years ago

This season they have the chance to stash two extra players in the G League as two way players.
As part of the league's new collective bargaining agreement, teams are allowed to have a couple of two-way players who will technically be on the roster but who will bounce back and forth between the NBA and the D-League.
These two-way contracts do not take up any of the 15 spots of an NBA roster. They are bonus players.
Here are some details on how the two-way contracts work, as outlined by DLeagueDigest.com and ESPN.com:
Anyone with three or fewer years in the NBA can sign. Players sign a one- or two-year contract. At the end of the contract, the NBA team can tender a qualifying offer. Players can earn up to $275,000 if they meet requirements. Players can spend a maximum of 45 days with the NBA team while on the deal. Teams can tender qualifying offers to players they want to keep longer than that. Players who will be designated two-way contract guys will receive $50,000 in training camp (paid by the D-League and not a salary cap hit). Players accrue Bird rights while on two-way contracts and are subject to restricted free agency at the end of their contracts if called up by their NBA team for at least 15 days. NBA teams retain rights to two-way players, so other teams can’t poach them. Two-way players can be traded but not until 30 days after they were signed.

So this is sorta the NBA's version of the NFL practice squad except a team can't poach your guy

It sorta appears like these are prime possibilities for 2nd rounders. Seems like Jackson and Nader (especially) would have been on this last year.

Wow. I just read about it and it's really complicated. But I think I like it

I didn't know anything about Kadeem Allen when we picked him. So I read up on him and watched some videos and listened to some interviews, and now he's a guy I'm hoping will shine in Boston.
First of all, he can DEFEND, and I mean, the way he stays in front of his man, reminds me of Gary, the Glove, Payton. He sticks to his man really well, and he has great hands.
And this guy is a leader. He was named captain of the Arizona Wildcats team, so that tells you about his leadership. Very mature, speaks very well.

I saw some video of him defending Fultz and he looked pretty good but I don't have high hopes for him. He's 24 years old, which makes him a year older than Marcus Smart and Terry Rozier.

Yeah, I should have stated by projection of him -- I'd like to see him fill a backup role as a defensive specialist.

I'm hoping Ojeleye can be our Crowder replacement if he gets moved. Seems like he has the potential to be a better version. I don't really expect to see or hear much about the other two (Bird and Allen), but you never know I guess.

It all depends on if he gives his all the way Crowder does.
