Ok, Danny has traded [HASH]1 for [HASH]3 and future 1st round picks.
We know that this clears space for a max player without having to give up any core players.
Rumors are that the Celtics would like Jackson but also they are trying to get Ball in - I guess in case Lakers take Jackson. Who do you want Danny to take now with the 3rd pick?
Just as in 2007, Danny traded for Ray Allen and there was one more shoe to drop when Danny traded for KG.
What is your preference for the next shoe? Another trade maybe to Sacramento for 5 and 10 since there were rumors they wanted to trade with Philly for [HASH]3?
Sign Hayward?
Sign Griffin?
Sign another free agent?
Trade for Butler?
Something else?

Something else? I guess I would want to sign Hayward. Trade for Butler. Trade for 5 and 10. This hopefully gets us really nice youth and stars. Not sure it will be easy to do all that. If you're the Bulls and you see all those assets you want some. If we sign Hayward and trade for Butler any of the rookies we draft won't contribute much this year. It will just be extra depth. The irony might be that the 10th pick would end up contributing the most because it could be a big and we really need help up front. I would think IT Butler Hayward Horford Zizic makes one heck of a team. Now you back it up with Smart Jaylen Yab Z Collins Tatum A MLE free agent A 2nd rounder That's a pretty good team this year Good luck with the whole money thing

I'd trade #3 to Sacramento for #5 and #10. Sounds like they want Fox, but Phoenix at 4 likes Fox too. So they're probably willing to do this.
With the 5th, I'd take Smith Jr or Tatum.
I'd trade #10 because of salary implications. I heard there are teams out there who are trying to trade into the top 10.
My free agent target is Gordon Hayward.
That's as far as I can think at this time.

So currently Butler makes about 18.6 mill. He's signed for this year and next. Maybe we could go over the cap to raise his pay about 12 mill. Especially if we're careful.
I doubt they'd take Zeller to clear 8mill from their payroll. I don't think it works that way.
So they'd probably have to take Crowder. That's 6.8 mill. 12 mill to go. The 3rd pick this year gets about 4.8. 7.2 to go. Avery makes 8.8. Not sure they want one year of Avery. Smart makes 4.5 next year and Rozier makes about 2. They could try to demand Jaylen.
I think if we have to give up Jaylen and Crowder and J Jackson and something else I'd tell them to take a hike unless I had some sort of commitment from Jimmy to extend his contract for more like 22 or something.
So joining our team up front would be Zizic and hopefully Yab. And a MLE guy. And maybe a 2nd rounder.
We'd be a bit thin it seems to me after trading so much depth. But pretty darn good too.
Quick think
IT/Rozier Butler/2nd round Hayward Horford/Yab Zizic/MLE
Maybe Gerald Green and Jerebko for the minimums?
I find that to be absolute puke

In the mean time Philly gets to run around with Fultz, Simmons, Saric, Embiid, Stauskas, and Jahil. And their pick next year that we didn't get from them.
Puke. Absolute puke

On paper, they could be scary. But time will tell.
There are reasons why Ainge didn't take Fultz -- not a slam dunk pick and I'm curious to know why. He played in a not-so-strong conference, had his best games against weaker teams, didn't do so well against top ranked teams, didn't play so highly motivated. I mean, these are possible red flags.
Simmons struggled to shoot the ball. In today's NBA, shooting is en vogue. You can't shoot, teams will capitalize on it.
Embiid is a beast, for sure.
Saric, is nice, but nothing special.
Jahlil and Stauskas -- nope, nothing more than role players thus far.

Here's info that could shed some light into this. Apparently, the [HASH]1 pick may have been too big to use in a trade for, say Jimmy Butler. But if it was broken up into multiple picks, then a trade becomes more palatable.
So we use the [HASH]3 and some other players to trade for Jimmy Butler. And we also still have the Lakers protected pick next year (if it falls between 2 - 5, which is likely).

And remember Pierce saying that we should trade our pick for Butler? Even the Truth endorses trading the pick.

What I am reading and hearing is that all of these picks are in an attempt to get Anthony Davis from New Orleans while also signing Heyward. IF that is remotely possible then that is the route that Danny should go over Butler. Davis has 2 years left on his contract and it makes no sense for NO to trade him unless they already know that he is going to bolt.

Anthony Davis has 4 more years on his contract (last year being a player's option where he gets to choose if he stays or opts out).
But here's my thinking about the Pelicans -- they have no talent aside from AD and now Cousins.
They won a measly 34 games this year, and they'll be losing their [HASH]3 scorer, Jrue Holiday -- which for that team, is going to be a big blow.
They have guys like E'Twuan Moore, Jordan Crawford (remember these guys), Solomon Hill, Dante Cunningham........ not really anyone worthy.
And they have no 1st round draft pick this year, either.
At some point, New Orleans needs to seriously think about starting over, grab draft picks and young players. They're paying AD $100+ million over the next 4 years, FOR WHAT?? They're not going anywhere any time soon.
Well, we have a bunch of high draft picks, some nice young players they can develop in the meantime, and they won't have to be spending all that money for nothing.

Seems like the trade with Sacramento for the [HASH]5 and [HASH]10 may have some credibility. Why else would the Celts have had Markkanen in for a workout?

Could PG13 be the next shoe? George came out and told Indy that he is definitely leaving in 2018 and that he prefers the Lakers. Not sure the Lakers have the assets to make the trade without leaving themselves with just PG and nothing more.
What are the odds that the Celtics can convince him to stay and re-sign with them? Wouldn't be worth it I don't think for a one year rental.
