Back in 1980. the Celtics held the [HASH]1 pick due to a trade with the Pistons and won a coin flip to get the first pick. Red Auerbach made a trade before the draft to give the Warriors the [HASH]1 pick in exchange for the [HASH]3 pick and Robert Parish.
The Warriors coveted Joe Barry Carroll and chose him with the [HASH]1 pick. The Jazz took Darrell Griffith with the 2nd pick. With the 3rd pick, the Celtics famously picked Kevin McHale, who was the player that Red wanted all along.
That trade ended up being pretty good although at the time there were probably fans trying to figure out what Red was doing. Maybe lightening will strike twice with a [HASH]1 for [HASH]3 swap. We can only hope.

We can only hope so.
Red thought highly of Ainge, so maybe we'll see Danny pull off a Red-like move.
