Paul Pierce - A+ Kendrick Perkins - A- Delonte West - B+ Ricky Davis - B+ Al Jefferson - C+ Raef LaFrentz - C+ Dan Dickau - C Brian Scalabrine - C Orien Green - C Mark Blonut - D Doc Rivers - D- Tony Brown - F
The rest of the crew is incomplete. The team is underachieving due to the poor coaching of Doc Rivers resulting in defeciencies in Defense, Rebounding, and inconsistent effort. A lot of problems have a chance to be solved with lineup and rotation adjustments. These are coaching issues which must be addressed before the season is lost.

I wouldn't rate Pierce A+. He had 6 turnovers last night and has had a few times when he didn't use the best of basketball smarts. I would say A for him but not A+ since he does have room for improvement, especially in taking care of the ball.
Ricky I would give an A-. He has played hard and done a lot of the little things to help the team win. He is also leading the team in assists. That should count for something. Other than last night he has had very solid games. I would give Veal a D also. I really don't see much that he does for the team out there. Other than that, I agree.

I didn't realize Doc was lacing-them-up and playing. The players need to have heart and play hard regardless of the coaches. I can think of pride and millions and millions of other reasons why.

Here's how I'd rate them:
Pierce: A, playing the best basketball of his career. Plays with more energy and focus and a lot less loafing. Has turned my attitude about him into a positive.
Ricky: A, IMO, he's playing as well as Pierce is. He actually plays harder than Pierce.
Delonte: B, Hard to give a B to a player who plays his heart out every night. But he disappears at times because of his unselfishness and his lack of ability to create plays for others as well as for himself. But developing very nicely into a systems player who fits in well in Doc's system.
Raef: C, He's lukewarm. He's either red hot, or ice cold. You either see his importance on the court, or barely recognize that he's even on the court. He rebounds just enough to keep you from wanting to bench him, but not nearly enough that you want him on the court in tight games. At this point, I'd prefer playing Jefferson at the starting PF slot and see if we get off to quicker starts offensively and defensively.
Blount: C (minus), and dropping. He was at a solid B after the first week of the season, but he's quickly falling off the chart. Sorry rebounder and not much of a defensive presence. His offense has really improved, and he consistently puts up points for us when given the opportunity. But rebounds are very crucial, and he has no concept on how to rebound. Perk definitely needs to take away his playing time.
Perkins: C, .....and rising. Perkins has taken a big leap now that he's getting more minutes. Proving that he can be a rebounding and defensive presence. And he's even showing good things offensively.
Jefferson: C (minus), Hasn't shown the improvements we were all hoping for from last year. But still shows so much potential. Its mind boggling to see how raw he is, but still capable of making veterans look bad. Main thing for Jefferson is to slow down.
Scalabrine: C, I may be in the minority, but I'm seeing Veal coming around the corner. He's no longer pressing the issue, and thus, committing less turnovers. He'll take shots when appropriate and make smarter dicisions. He's an active big body who can move, and he's a disruptor on looseballs. He attacks the boards hard and plays with energy. I like this guy and think he can contribute at some point in the season. He just needs to find a niche and the team needs to recognize what he can offer and utilize him.
Dickau: C, When he gets enough playing time, he's useful. Pushes the tempo really well, although that may just mean that he's sprinting across halfcourt. Can hit the open three's and when he's really feeling it, will look to be an offensive sparkplug.
Justin Reed: C, What he does really well is bring the energy. He replaces what McCarty used to bring to the table, except he is much more useful. He's a tough player who could end up getting into a few fist fights on the court before the season is over. Much quicker than what people give him credit for. Here's a former PF/C in college, who guards players like Allen Iverson in the NBA. Talk about transition. He's very much a Bruce Bowen type player--play tight man defense and on offense, wait for the kickout. He needs to stop bulldozing into the lanes because he's too reckless. His jumper shows promise, so he should concentrate on that.
Ryan Gomes: D, I like Gomes, but he's not playing the way he can right now (which isn't much anymore). He needs to score when he's in the game. His shot is way off, so hopefully he'll work to get it back. He's a versatile player and he'll be a factor once he adjusts to the NBA.
Greene: D, Not really his fault for getting this low grade. His playing time is so scattered that its hard to get adjusted. Some nights he'll get a ton of playing time, while others, he'll only see a couple of minutes. He really needs to protect the ball more. Gets sloppy at times and looks like he's more interested in looking good than doing what he needs to do. But the talent is there. He's an exceptionally strong PG who has a lot of PG skills.

I had to modify my post. I originally gave both Perk and Jefferson B's, but its obviously way too high. Prior to Perk's big rebounding game, he would have been a borderline C, because he wasn't getting much playing time (I'm grading on production). Jefferson hasn't played consistently on the court so I also gave him a C.
But as you can see, we have only 2 A-caliber players, 1 B-caliber, and the rest are C's and D's--and thus why we struggle to stay in games. We need more C players moving up to the B level and D players moving up to C level. Then we'll start winning more.
