With Thad Matta out, Ohio State is searching for a new head coach to steer their program, and among their list of coaches they'll be aiming to grab is our own Brad Stevens.
WHAT???
How is this even remotely possible unless they KNOW Brad is interested? Why would they specifically be targetting an NBA coach who is still under contract, who is having big time success, who just took his team to the ECF unless they have knowledge that he is open to a college coaching position?
Steve Kerr's name isn't on there. Or Frank Vogel, or Dwayne Casey, or Greg Popovic or Quinn Snyder. Why Brad's??

I am not the least bit concerned about this. He coached in an adjacent state and had success. That's all.

Jmost nailed it. Why wouldn't they target him. Dude is a great coach who had a lot of success in college. The worst he can say is 'no.'

Why not Popovic? My point is, why target a coach who you have no shot at? Why even bother calling Brad who is on pace to have great things come his way in Boston?
I mean, why even consider something unless you know there's a remote chance, right?
I doubt Brad leaves anyways. He took this job knowing the risks, knowing the commitment and what was at stake. Brad is not the type to back his way out of a commitment. So why would OSU ever think Brad would consider this?

Look at the names on the list. All younger guys with big time collegiate success. Billy Donovan is on the list too. That dude is going nowhere. His contract in OKC is one of the best in sports. But to your point, why not consider it? What is the harm? How long does it take to reach out to these coaches and see if they'd be interested to meet up for dinner and discuss the OSU coaching vacancy? Why not say you're interested in these guys to psyche up your fan base?

So why would OSU ever think Brad would consider this? tOSU does this because they are arrogant douche bags from administrators to the fan base who grossly overvalue their place in the world. I have no doubt in my mind that they think they can get Brad to leave Boston because they honestly think that tOSU is a better job. With that being said, the rest of the world to include Brad knows this isn't true and tOSU can dream all they want, but the reality is that they don't have a chance in hell for any of those guys.

This isn't the first college HC job that Brad has been rumored to be a target for. I think Brad rather than Pop or Kerr or any of the others is because he was such a success in coaching college ball not so long ago and they all keep hoping that he wants to go back to the simpler days of coaching college.
Brad is happy in Boston and the Celtics are happy with Brad so there's no way he leaves for OSU, but you can't blame them for trying.
