Hayward didn't make any of the 3 All-NBA teams, which is significant because Utah will not have the advantage of offering $30 million more than anyone else and an extra year on the length of the contract.
Meaning the playing field is leveled, and basically the only way he'll stay in Utah is if we wants to be there (and not for more money or the length of the contract).
He'll be nice to have, but he'll cost us a pretty penny.

They can still offer him more, but it's nearly as much more as it would be if he would've gotten an all-nba nod. But i'd still be shocked if he left. Dude would be turning down millions in extra cash and a 5th guaranteed season. That's huge.

I still don't have a strong opinion, one way or another, whether I want him here or not. But Hayward doesn't strike me as a guy whose motive is to make the most money he can, or even seek out the longest contract he can get. I think he'll choose to be where he has a chance to win, and a place he feels good about. With that said, I think it'll come down to Utah and Boston.
And Utah has a bright future, as do we. They have a great young coach, as do we. Utah has stiffer competition in their conference, but we have arguably the greatest player in the league standing in our way.
All in all, I think Hayward stays put; but not without putting in a lot of thought about teaming up with Brad Stevens.

I have to admit that I haven't seen Hayward play all that much, but from what I see, he is more athletic than Crowder, a better much better offensive player, and a better help defender. Yeah, he's gonna cost a bunch, but we have cap space this summer. If we don't sign someone before resigning IT and possibly AB next summer, we'll lose it.
So if not him, then who?

He sounded like he was leaving in is postgame interview after being eliminated by the Warriors. He is a perfect fit in Boston with Stevens as a coach and our need for a scorer. He would be dumb to not come to Boston if winning is what he holds most dear as Utah is a good young team too, but they are not getting past the Spurs or the Warriors anytime soon. Where we only have to beat an older Cavs to get there.

In spite of getting demolished by the Cavs in Game 1, I've heard TV and radio folks say we are close (as in a piece or 2 away) to being contenders. And many think Hayward will help us get there.
I don't know what his metrics are, but I heard that Gordon is a good defender. You guys read that anywhwere?

I watched some video yesterday that showed him to be a good off-the-ball shot blocker around the rim. I don't know about his straight up D.

Well, I glanced at both of their advanced stats (and honesty, I'm not sure what they mean), and their defensive metrics are comparable.

I think Hayward is a great player, however does not get BOS by a team with Lebron. Now, Griffin might however he is fragile.

I don't get the Hayward hype, but I also don't watch many Utah games. I'm not really interested in getting him and especially not using up a significant portion of the cap on him. Still, I understand the connection with Stevens so i think it's natural for us to be linked with him.

But it is what it is, and if he's a key piece to help us win a title, so be it.
