ok so ive been ranting for about the last 2 weeks about how blounts precense on the court is the SOLE reason for the teams poor play and losses, and i was beginging to think i was the only one who felt this way because the boston newspaper wrtiers never really strees this point...but after this loss to the Bulls i searched for message boards and found this one and am soo glad to see u other fans also share the same oppinions about blount as me...let me ask why in the hell is he in the game at all?? wut does he do? yeah he can score a little but we dont need scoring and when he scores it only gives the coaches more reason to leave him out there (looks as if hes playin good wen hes actualy not...not rebounding, awful Defense). The fact that the team is playing bad solely because of him is extremely obvious to me and i DONT GET why the coaches dont understand this....whenever perkins enters the game, the team does better...when we r losing and perk enters, we always catch up and sometimes take the lead, like vs Chicago...down by 8 at the half, perk plays the 3rd quarter, we go up by 7..thats a 15 point turn around....then WHY IN THE WORLD, does blount play the WHOLE fourth...blount should never be in during crunch time...i know tony brown was coaching but doc has been oblivious to this all last season and this season, thankfuly he finaly benched blount, but then played him in the crunch vs Orlando and of course we lost..wen perk played in the crunch time vs 76ers, we won...its so obvious...wut is it gonna take to make doc realize this??? i really wanna go to a game and just yell it to him from behind the bench, just scream it over and over, maybe he'll realize it then...
sorry for the long post, but its nice to be part of the website...ive been venting to people who arent interested and now im glad i can vent here....lemme know wut u think..

Welcome aboard, IHB. You've definitely come to the right place. Not many Blount fans here (if any at all).
I agree. I just cannot understand why our coaches even play him anymore. He is by far the worst rebounder in recent memory. On one play, the defensive rebound flew right past his head and his hands were still hanging around his waist!!! But its not only his rebounding deficiency--its his attitude. He was loafing out there and barely moving his feet. It just killed me that when we needed a rebounder, Tony Brown thought Blount was the best option to have on the court.
Anyways, welcome to the board, and I hope you are a Celtics fan first and foremost over a Blont hater ;D

Blount plays/starts starters minutes. Issue #1, because he is a back-up. Perks, canbe building block for the future, but no college experience, hurts him. Reason why his stats are helter skelter. Issue #2, Blount is only outspoken when there is an issue at hand. Ex:"touches".

I really think that Perkins could have been the difference maker in the 4th quarter. We gave up some offensive boards that I really feel he would have gobbled up, or at least kept alive and tipped to one of our guys.

yeah of course im a celts fan before im a blount hater....im a celts die hard, and thats y this is so hard for me to watch, because i know if blount wasnt part of the equation we would be a pretty darn good team...actualy, im happy we lost the game vs the bulls with blount out there so maybe it will show the coaches that if blounts out there u lose....if they had won that game it would have just hidden the fact that blount makes us suck....i am a huge celts fan but i really have come to the point where i cant even cheer for them if hes out on the court playin big minutes...its pointless to cheer, becasue i know we have no chance with him out there...i wouldnt mind him if he was a 12 min per game guy or somethin....he needs to stop plating these 25 min games, its good hes not startin anymore, but it means nothing if hes still gonna play the bulk of the minutes at center...
ill have more posts about wut i think is good about the celts, but for now we need to resolve the blount issue...trade him, ill take a rack of basketaballs in return

No doubt, Blount has little value to the team. Granted, when he does play with energy and hustle, he does good things on the court. But the other 90% of the time, he's a liability and I'd be much happier seeing Scalabrine playing in his place (lot of you don't care for Scala, but you will eventually).
I just don't know what Rivers and his staff see in Blount. Much like how I could not understand why our former coaches played Walter McCarty so much.

Welcome Ihateblount!!! I am new here too and it is exciting to find boards with friendly and fun Celtic fans to chat with. I guarantee that any fan site you come across and 99% will hate Blount. He is useless. I watch every Celtics game and tape them while I am watching them so I can watch again the next day (and off days so i don't go into withdrawal). The rebounds that Blount gets are ones that come right at him and even then he misses some because of his stone hands. Watch the game with this in mind. Last night I got so mad watching him stand flat footed while the rebound went just a couple inches past his outstretched hand into the hands of Chicago. He put forth no effort to get it. The only rationale I can possibly see for playing stone hands so many minutes is to showcase him for a trade. Maybe that is the reason for the lack of lambasting in the Boston papers as well. They are unhappy with Odom in LA and have always loved Banks... maybe a package would interest them. Kandi is wanting out of the Wolves and maybe that could be a possiblility. However, playing him to showcase him is kind of useless because any GM worth a dime can see what a waste he is. Maybe we can get Isaiah to take him or maybe Jim OBrien (if he had a team) but other than that, the more he plays the more he shows how useless he is!! Unless Doc has been given the ultimatum to play him to fish for a trade, I put the onus on this on Doc. Perk is clearly a better center. He produces when giving the minutes and Doc admits that and says that he is going to get more minutes and then he sits. Very, very frustrating. And while I rant on Doc, what kind of brain abnormality caused him to put Veal in as the 6th man? ? Anyway, welcome and there are lots of people out there who share your dislike of Stone Hands Blount!!!

i always thought they were playin blount to try to get him some stats so they could show the numbers in a trade, that is a possibility, but it doesnt mean u play him in the crunch time of a game....i believe that because last yr in the playoffs he got benched when stats dont count so that could be a sign....i guess i would package him with banks but im a big banks supporter, hes an actual real point gaurd, delonte is a 2 gaurd...he played better last yr as the 2 than he is this yr as the 1...hes thinkin too much out there...banks is awesome and i cant figure out why the coaches dont like him...i really am not on the same page with these coaches...anyway, at least its early in the seaso...lets hope danny can pull of a nice deal to get blount outta here soon...ive also have almost been rooting for losses to maybe have doc fired...i mean i like doc but if he cant figure out that blount is the sole reason for losses then hes got to go

From a fans' standpoint, there is neither rhyme nor reason as to why Blount continues to play, especially in crunch time. He offers very little, and in stark contrast, adds nothing in comparison to Perkins. But the coaches have a reason for playing Blount. Maybe Ainge IS trying to showcase him. Maybe the owners are forcing Doc to play him. Maybe its Doc's strategy to have Blount play a lot in the 4th quarters to show Perk and Big Al what NOT to do, or what they should be doing.
I'm all for getting Lamar Odom. I'm in favor of getting a very tall SF who can dribble, pass, and shoot. He played PF for Miami and now for the Lakers, but prior to that, he's been a SF.

Odom is the real-deal. Statistic wise, he will give you everything. The Lakers would be closer to 2-14, than 6-9 w/out him.
I am thinking it would take more than Banks, Blount. Perhaps Allen or Davis as well.

Perhaps Allen or Davis as well. Not Davis! ! ! He has found a home. He's been more than solid, as a player and family man, as far as we know. I don't want him moved. How about a top draft pick instead? Banks, Blount and/or Allen. No problem.

I agree with you Celtic17... Ricky is a keeper. He has been a leader and a mentor to the kids as well as a solid team player for us. He does everything for us. And to top that off, he is a bargain!!!!
