Wow, what a remarkable career he has had. I never did truly appreciate Pierce during the dark years (from '98-'07); but I have the utmost respect for him now looking back at what he's done throughout his career.
For Pierce to be the 15th greatest scorer in the history of the NBA, that is an ENORMOUS accomplishment.

That's pretty amazing. I always thought of Paul as a very good player, not a great one. But he played at a high level for a very long time.

Players just don't have that comfortable midrange game anymore like Pierce did. Kobe was the only other one who I enjoyed watching work the midrange and the whole floor basically on the offensive end. Pierce was just so lethal setting up on his spot and even without being the fastest on the court he was savy enough to make you backpedal where he could pull back or continue driving hard to the basket. Just a pure scorer and threat in every sense of the word. I watched the Celtics and basketball after Jordan because of him. Yea he probably didn't mature until the very end but he still changed when it mattered most and got the trophy and I'm happy he did because he spent many years being clutch and a scorer, but he could've easily ended up just getting points and not being a team player kind of like Carmelo is doing. And when he did step it up he was competing with Lebron and doing his best on both ends of the court. The defense was something we didn't see until KG and Doc really got to him.
And now on his final year he's coming out when some cool articles and videos on the players' tribune. He had one on the toughest players he had to defend that I enjoyed reading and recently reminisced with KG which was awesome to see (link below).

P2 was the reason I followed the Celtics. Circa the time he was drafted, a college professor asked me why I invested in BOS (stock). Two words: Paul Pierce!
