Sounds like we have an interest in getting Butler, but don't want to give up Crowder to get him. Ideally, we'd have both on the team together, sliding Crowder over to the 4 (I think this could work, even though Jae would be undersized).
Though Butler is a better all around player (especially better on the offensive end), he doesn't have the heart that Crowder does.
We do need scoring help, but we also need players who have the heart of a lion.
Hmmm... what to do, what to do?

As you say, Butler is the better all-around player. We're already getting killed on the boards, so I'm not wild about moving Crowder to PF. Our best bet is for Horford to move to PF next year when Zizic comes over.
And then there's Brown, another guy who profiles as a SF - although maybe Jaylen can play SG as he did when Avery got hurt. I think if we get Butler or George, Crowder is going to go
I don't worry about this team having heart. With IT and Smart, they are going to be tough regardless.

In a vacuum I suppose Butler. But give up something to pay him more? Yeah I don't know

I would rather have Paul George (he can slide between the 3 and 4) and IMO matches up better with Crawford. Plus he is a better 3 pt shooter and off-the-ball player than Butler.
But to answer your question, I would lean towards Butler since he would add another elite scorer while still providing good defense.
