Allen Iverson and Co. come to town after winning big time against Portland last night. Iverson scored 38 pts and like always, played a huge amount of minutes. Hopefully, this back to back game will tire him out.
Question is, who is going to try and stop him? Possibly Ricky because he's the quickest wing player we have (outside of Tony Allen, who is practicing, but not ready to play yet). Delonte and Orien Greene do better defensive work against stronger PG's who rely more on bumping and body contact than using their speed. That's why Brevin Knight looked so good against us.
We need a more consistent effort from everyone tonight, especially Delonte and Raef. Their scoring will be a big help.
Last game, Rivers needed to play Jefferson more. He needs to learn from his mistake and play the kid and let him roam free. He's just too quick to guard.
We can win this game, but we'll need energy and effort from everyone.

I'm looking for Philly's legs to be a bit weak in the secound half. Right on about Reaf and Delonte as scorers. We could us one of our young bigs to step it up a bit more too.
Keep the TOs down and the Rebs up and we could take this game.

Call me a pessimist, but I don't think we will win tonight. We should have won on Monday, but blew it in the 4th. Whether we lose or not, I will look for continued improvement of Perk, and hopefully Big Al can have a breakout game. I say they put Reed on Iverson, and Ricky as well.

Maybe playing against better teams will bring up our competitiveness. Last year as well, we played to the level of our competition. Bad characteristic, and we'll see if its the same this year.
C17, the way I see if, we need Delonte scoring about 15 ppg and Raef around 11 - 12 ppg to win consistently. It needs to be this way until our bench starts producing more. Because our bench doesn't provide much scoring, our starting unit is taking the brunt of the scoring load. Ricky and Pierce can score 20+ every night, but the other starters must then contribute with more scoring.

Perk 5 boards in the 1st 5 minutes and he is redirecting potential shooters away from the paint! Please let perk start for the rest of the year.

Q at the Quarter
Celtics have more spring in their step tonight, perhaps sparked by Perkins strong start.
Raef is still struggling and I wonder if something is wrong.
Got to play outside in D tonight.
More Later.

Perkins double - double at the half ought to make you happy, esco.
Blount did alright too off the bench.
The only points of concern are the cold shooting from the outside, however Philly is not that hot either.
It's a good fight so far
and that's Q at the half.
Good Luck the 2nd half and may the BCP be with us.

Raef LaFrentz's struggles continue. He passed up a simple clean look open baseline and passed to Pierce who clanked a three pointer. We need some production out of this guy. Or gasp, Scalabrine might have to take over.

Yeah Q, I am happy about Perk's double double in the first half. Now if we lose, I won't feel as bad. (lol)
Maybe we can actually pull this one out. Let's go C's!

Perk is the MVP of the first half. I really didn't like Rivers' decision to pull him out in the 1st quarter and I questioned why he took so long to put him back in in the 2nd quarter. But it seems that he was trying to keep Perkins from getting into foul trouble (he has 3 at the half).
Perk was a force in the middle. Not trying to hype him up as the next Shaq because a guy like Marc Jackson could have looked this good in a half as well. But for Perk, this was definitely his breakout game (or at least a breakout HALF). Can't wait to see his final stats after a whole game. Already got himself a double double with 2 assists.
When Doc took him out in the 1st quarter, we had a 7 point lead. The lead diminished and when he finally got back in with 4 minutes left in the 2nd quarter, the lead began to build again. Perk looks very comfortable out there and he's not rushing anything at all. This has greatly benefitted him offensively. Looked real comfortable out there getting his shot off. In the past, because he was moving too fast, when he bumped his man trying to get into the paint, he'd push too hard and he'd get called for offensive fouls. Tonight, he's taking his time, and even a semi nudge from Perk is enough to send his defender back a bit--which is all Perk needs. A nudge at a time, and he can get close enough to the basket to get off a shot that he's comfortable with.
Ricky's shot is off. His timing on his release is off right now. He's holding on to the ball a split second too long. He's thinking, rather than just releasing.
Same for Raef. His timing is off as well. Had he and Ricky been able to hit more of their shots, we'd have a double digit lead, instead of just a 1 pt lead.
Delonte had a nice half too. He's separating himself as the best fit for our team among the other PG's we have. He made a couple of bad decisions that led to some steals by Iverson, but I totally think its because he's still learning.
Orien did a fantastic job defending Iverson. Actually, so did Delonte.
Scalabrine did well in his few minutes on the court. Provided the team with energy and hustle. Scala's best thing going for him right now is how he attacks the glass on rebounds, offensively and defensively. As the ball is coming off the rim, he comes charging in hard. If he doesn't get the rebound, he's trying to knock it out of the hands of the other team. He's also not forcing anything on offense.
Blount scored well off the bench, but you could see the difference on the boards when Perk was in the game and when Blount came into the game. Perk deserves to be starting, plain and simple. I wasn't too happy to see Blount come in because Perk was doing so well, but he did make a couple of nice shots that took some of my disappointment away.
Second half coming up. We absolutely need to keep up the energy and good play in order to come out with a win.
