There's an article on ESPN Insider that predicts how players in China will translate to the NBA. Yabusele is one of them that they analyze.

Yabu is an interesting prospect. He reminds me of an athletic Glenn Davis.

I like the fact he crashes the boards often. But the key thing is how his scoring translates to the NBA when he plays NBA defenses...I dont think it'll just be a 6PPG drop..I've seen many guys in the NBA who could only average 5-7 PPG but suddenly average 30PPG in china...their defense is rubbish over there

Very true jrmzt. That's why I was happy to see Zizic move to one of the toughest European teams playing for a former NBA coach. I think his performance is closer to what he can really do.

Yabu is an interesting prospect. He reminds me of an athletic Glenn Davis. Glen Davis had one of the most bizarre skill sets of any NBA player in recent memory. Dude was a mountain of a man, but terrible on the boards, yet was a surprisingly effective defender, even on perimeter orientated big men. He had a weak offensive game around the basket, but had a solid mid-range and high post game. He was very nimble but his lack of lift killed him around the hoop.

The Cs should have told Yabusele to head to the Euroleagues. The Chinese league is one of the worst for learning defense especially on a team that is ALL about defense. Just looking at the likes of Mudiay who is struggling massively with a .367 FG % and the only reason he is scoring double digit points is because he takes up to 11 shots a game..Yabusele can guarantee he won't be getting that many shots.

Davis could move well horizontally, just not vertically. I think his wingspan was very short.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Yab.
At first I thought his Chinese stats weren't that great and I also thought his NBDL stats weren't great either. I mean guys in those leagues just create video game numbers.
The thing is Yab has passed all four tests thrown at him so far, which is France, summer league, China, and NBDL.
When a guy passes all four tests I'm not sure what else you could want from a young player like that. He's 21. I don't think there's any reason to stash him any more.

The C's must have had some reason to have him play in China. I just don't know what it was. Folks may like this youtube video of Yab I stumbled across yesterday. It's from his first NBDL game. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOqJCHmQ4fAI like what I see, but to me eye he still needs to drop a few pounds.
