I get very excited with the start of each season. Every season is like a blank slate and no matter the players, no matter the expectations, no matter the naysayers, I always believe that we can do great things and surprise people.
I know that the Celtics are ranked low and that the pundits don't expect them to do much. But there are so many positives. We have a real center in Tyler Zeller and a promising back up in Vitor. We have Sully coming back slimmer and poised to make a leap. We have KO coming back bulkier and ready to make a leap. We have a healthy Rondo in a contract season. We have 2 promising rookies. We have a second year coach who is poised to do great things. I'm excited!!! Who's with me?

I feel the same way. I was g oing to make a similar post last night but people don't seem to like positivity. I think we have talent. A lot of questions but Zeller can do some things same with Vitor. Green and Turner. Rondo, Smart, Pressey, Bradley. T hornton, james young, wallace. It will be interesting what ainge does to clean up the roster a bit but not expecting much. We have some good players. Sully is coming in in the best shape. Green has been working hard. I'm more focused on what these guys can do vs what we don't have.
DA was smart this offseason and didn't give up the farm and kept things kind of status quo. Drafted well. Gave us options. Let's see what these guys can do.
I expect good things from all these guys.

I think out of anyone i'm hoping for Green to prove the doubters wrong. Same with Rondo. They do well this can be a very good team. Green kind of came here at the end of the big 3 era. Had the heart issues and issues fitting in. Last year was his first year where he really played a full year here. Rondo same thing. He's had about 30 games since Pierce, KG, and Ray left and people are already trading him. I want these guys to do well because it's good for us.
I also think Sully and Zeller can be huge keys for us. Same with Turner and Bradley. Smart is also going to make an impact I feel right away. Pressey should also be improved. Some decisions to make on some spots but I'm excited.
Bradley if he is fully healthy for a full year can be a very good player. Favarani also hasn't had much of a chance to show what he can do. Fav is a very talented guy imo. He's nto Tim Duncan with his mindset or work ethic and fundamental like that but Fav is a talented guy who can make an impact too. Thornton is a lights out shooter when he's on and a good sparkplug as well. These guys have ability. It's whether they are going to go throught he paces and be the same ole same ole or not. People herald Stevens as a good coach. That's what a good coach is. He brings out the best in these guys.
Zeller was a guy I liked that draft and was hoping the celtics might get him. He's a smart player and can do some things. DA knows what he's doing and there is more to it than it seems sometimes.
Not sure it will all fit together this year but I'm not someone who labels this a rebuilding year before it even happens either. We might just find some pieces this year in the end but I wouldn't count this team out either. I'm rooting for all these guys and Jeff Green in particular I think. The bullseye is on him in ways but he can help us.

It's going to be an interesting year. Listening to Sully today talking about the vets on this team. All signs point to that Rondo looks great and is due for a big year and the young guys are kind of playing it off like this is his team and they are excited to play with him. We have a good mix as it stands. But the question to me is is youth going to be served. I think Zeller can surprise a lot of people. He's sti ll very young and centers sometimes take a bit to come into their own. As it stands we have too many players. We have about 5 or 6 vets in Rondo, Green, Bass, Wallace, Bradley and Thornton. None of which are that old themselves. And a young group of Sully, KO, Smart, Young, Pressey, Favarani and Zeller. That's 13 players right there not counting Chris Johnson, Babb, Bogans or Joel Anthony.
Rondo has a huge year it could vault us into playoff consideration and also make it difficult to trade him. I think if this team is good longterm it's going to come down to the youth on this team though. Guys like Smart, Sully, KO and Zeller are keys there. Tale of two directions we can go in ways but might work out differently too.

The 2nd year of a rebuild is usually a lot more enjoyable than the 1st. You have a shiny new rookie to watch (in the C's case there's two), and you kind of have a feeling of where the team is going.

I'm really looking forward to the start of the season, it can't come fast enough. We have a nice young core that should at least play hard. I watched a lot of Smart last season his intensity is contagious, it's fun to watch

Rondo having the best year of his career plus an improved jeff green and youth being served on this team equals this team being a lot better than people think. Zeller surprises and look out. It also probably means Rondo gets the max.
Smart could be rondo's replacement he could just be a wrecking ball we throw at teams other teams don't have. I'm more excited for this season than most. DA needs to get with it and stop saying we aren't a contender. We have so many draft picks coming up DA can sit back and just let the fun roll in. We have a good coach. We have young players. We have Rondo. Let the good times roll I say. Not a big fan of controversy in the media.
Unless Rondo just doesn't want to be here I don't think paying him with a young nucleus is that big a deal. Everything points to him having a huge year this year imo. Which means we are probably going to be very good. Sully is in great shape. KO was coming on at the end of last year and looked improved in summer league. It's all shaping up for a possibly shocking season imo.
Dont' want to get my hopes up too much but there are a lot of positives coming in imo.

KG, Pierce and Ray were really good players but were declining. I think youth is key. Can Sully not put up some of pierce's declining production? young players sometimes take a bit before they start winning but the transition here might not be that bad especially when we have Rondo passing people the ball. I'm optimistic about this year. It really falls on Rondo and how the young guys gel. It might not work. If it does though.... It doesn't work and we are building with smart and its another rebuilding year. I think this year is about that though and to determine that. I think Rondo is going to have a monster year but we will see.

2nd year of a collosal rebuild. I still think Stevens is a great coach, regardless of last year's record.
