And on the subject of off-court troubles. I think they affect the team when it is something that is making waves in the organization. But in Bird's case, no one really knew about it, so it never caused any waves (Not that it still isnt reprehensable). But its a lot different that having a teammate on the verge of suspension after a hooker and crystal meth binge.

Antoine is being pursued by the Rockets. And shockingly, Ainge contacted Marc Bartelstein (Toine's agent) to let him know we are still interested in Walker. WHY?!!!!!!! Please do not bring him back.

Ainge, being the manipulator that he is, could be trying to raise Walker's stock. If he doesn't want him back, he'll hope Walker signs for as much $$$ as possible with another team. The more that other team pays for him, the less $$ they can spend on other potential FA's that Danny might want.

Good point Ossric. I could see Ainge doing just that.

Right. He was a horrible Boston teams 1st pick in 2006. Thats the equivalent of what Lebron was for the cavs not that long ago. He was simply expected to do too much and he did but unfortunately, it carried over until his prime. They had him at 5 POSITIONS his rookie year for christs sakes.

If other teams that may be interested in Walker believe Ainge would simply match an MLE offer, but with a year longer and higher annual increases (since we have his "bird" rights) they may offer something of value to Ainge on order for Ainge to sign Walker for them at an amount they know they can get Walker for.

Just as long as we don't get left with no one bidding. If Ainge is angling for a sign and trade, we are looking at a player with who's got around a 6 - 8 million dollar contract (probably what Toine's going to get) to receive back in this trade. Finding a veteran in this range shouldn't be too difficult.

Mike Sweetney may be available. He's got some weight issues and he doesn't want to participate in the Vegas Summer League.
If Walker is going to be a sign and trade player with the Knicks, hope Ainge swoops in and gets this guy. He's a true PF who can do damage in the low blocks. He'd be a terrific backup for Jefferson, even if he's 6'8".

Walker doesn't have weight issues like Sweetney does. And I rather have Walker than oliver miller 2.0. Atleast Walker can play in a uptempo offense while Sweetney will huff and puff up and down the court. I say no to sweetney. We're better off letting Walker go for nothing than receiving a scrub pf like sweetney.

having "fat rinkles" in your neck is not a matter of condition. He has a natural tendancy to be overweight. He was born to be chubby for the rest of his life.

Wait a minute ;D Its not like Sweetney is a Fat Albert. He's just not in optimal shape. Walker was the same way before Ainge came along. That's when he got seriously in shape.

I'm sorry guys im in favor of resigning walker. The guys not the greatest player in the world, but he brings a certain, spark, confidence, swagger to the team that was missing after he left. I recall when he returned on that west coast trip, his prescence was immediately felt in the suns game on the road. Did you see the change in attitude in pierce? More swagger, more attitude, it was infectious in all of our players.
I also feel walker accepts the role as being the vocal leader of the team, something pierce has never been comfortable doing. Pierce leads by example, walker leads with words, i feel its a great compliment. I've always look at walker as pierce's big brother. When walker left pierce looked lost, when big brother came back home pierce was back in his comfort zone, because walker was their to answer all the questions from the media that would usually bombard pierce after tough losses.
I know his shot selection makes you want to pull your hair out, as well as the blown easy lay-ups, and missed free throws, but you cant deny the intangibles. Without walker we dont win the atlantic division plain & simple.
I feel if the numbers are fairly similiar walker returns, because his hearts in boston, and i really feel he wants to win a championship here. Also another thing walker dosent get credit for is his ability to recongnizewhen it's pierce's time to take over the game. Walker has always deferred to pierce. Also the guy can play 3 positions. The positives out weight the negatives. Sign him up.
go celtics!!!!!!!!
