ugh key mistakes in crunchtime. cant win them all. learning experience for the finals i hope. we were like 3 plays or decisions from winning this game. orlando played tough. we should have stuck with baby, he was quick enough to get inside howard on the boards. we also were dribbling too much and relying on pierce way too much.

poor execution down the stretch. First by Pierce at the end of the fourth, then with some bad turnovers. Very winnable. Oh well. Gotta close it out in Orlando.

did we just decide not to call a timeout there? or did we not have one?

I also didnt understand why we went back to perk. Baby blocked that shot, howard had the ball bounce right back to him. We take Baby out and Perk gets beaten on the very next play. We should have just stuck with baby, but hindsight is 20/20 even though i thought this before hand? lol. So it's not hindsight. I think Doc made some mistakes at the end of this one. He coached a great game for the most part and stuck with baby for a long time. But it was like the minute he made a mistake perk came back in. He should have stuck with what was working.
I think the players played hard. Just some crucial things down the stretch where we really needed a TO. Doc did about 98% right this game. That 2 percent was the difference though. Ray was coming off screens and shooting it. Pierce was dribbling too much. Pierce doesnt have his legs under him and needed a TO.
We call a TO at the end of the 4th and get our heads together this game was over and we are heading to teh finals. We get much needed rest. Sucks.

We started out the game very poorly and gave Orlando confidence. And we were sloppy as hell in the fourth quarter. Too much one-on-one dribbling, and I can't understand why we couldn't call a time out and set up a play to end the fourth quarter. Plus we gave Howard way too many easy shots in the paint. Very disappointing loss. We should have had this one.
Here's hoping we don't imitate the Boston Bruins. We really let this one get away.

And I believe the fourth quarter last possession play was the right one. Doc must have briefed his players on the play he wanted and he didn't want to give the Magic a chance to set their defense up. If he did call a timeout, the Magic would be able to set up a more efficient half court defense with better defensive players on the court.

Except Pierce needed a breather, and we didn't even get a shot off. Too much one-on-one by Pierce. I don't see how calling a timeout would have been any worse. If we had had a transition opportunity fine, but Orlando had already gotten back and defense and was set up, so our best call was to set up a play, not have Pierce try to do it by himself.

yeah it seemed to be purposeful. from listening to doc in the press conference he didn't like teh way we were playing at all. We just didn't execute.
you'd think he'd want to call a to and get guys together the way they were playing. But I tend to think he was just expecting them to execute and they didn't.
I don't blame Doc in that regard. You can't really coach to players and be like boohoo pierce is tired he needs a TO. He was expecting them to execute. I understand it in that regard.

hopefully this loss will make us stronger come finals time. that's all i have to say. It would have been nice to get a rest but oh well. Not happening now.
I kind of like Doc's explanation now that i think about it. Separating the men from the boys. Now is not the time to rest. Doc is right i was wrong. This game was really on the players.

Yea, we don't need to act like the Celtics from 2002 and watch Pierce play...Especially a 33 year old Pierce who was completely done, I mean he basically front rimmed two wide-open threes in the OT because he was so tired...With a little rest he would've nailed those...Anyway, we should've ran our plays and executed..But instead, we didn't and paid the price of having to play another game...I think Doc has some good stuff he can preach about before game 5 concerning spacing and togetherness for 48 minutes that will benefit this team in the long run(NBA Finals)

SVG may have saved his job as well. Orlando at least showed some guts. We still should have beaten them though.

I'm not saying this just because we lost, but maybe its a good thing we're still playing. Had we won tonight, we probably won't be playing till next week monday (or possibly later if PHO wins one or two more games). That's a long time off, and though it will be good to get our guys some rest, I think we have a momentum going, and I would hate to rest for a long period of time and lose it.

I think it's good to hit a bump now rather than later. I'm honestly starting to think Doc hung them out to dry there on purpose. Not really, but yeah.

I think wednesday, Rajon comes out strong, gets a triple double, and we end the series.
