Went saw 99 Homes tonight. It was decent at best. Definitely overrated. Can't believe it's at 90% on rotten tomatoes.
That Beast of No Nation looks really good.

I haven't yet. Looks pretty good. There's been a lot of stuff at the theater lately that looks decent. The martian, the visit, the gift, etc.

Went and saw Crimson Peak. It was decent, nothing special. Jessica Chastain carries the movies. She is good in pretty much every movie I've seen her in. The story was pretty boring and I find the main two characters bland. Definitely the weakest of Guillermo del Toro movies that I've seen.

Saw Jupiter Ascending the other day. I wouldn't go so far as to call it "good"

I never did see it. It looked like a mess, but I have to give the Wachowski's credit, they always make really big, ambitious movies. They never play it safe. You have to admire that.

Saw Creed a few nights ago. It was much better than I thought it would be. Definitely near the top of the Rocky franchise.

Mrs. eja brought home Hotel Budapest. It was one of the best things I've seen in a while. An actual original story, with compelling characters and significant charm. Excellent writing. Why can't they make movies like that any more?

Why can't they make movies like that any more? Because not enough people go to them. If those movies made money, Hollywood would make them. They did in the 70s, because people wanted to see movies like that. But adults have gotten lazy now, so only kids go and see movies. And kids, by and large, like crap movies. Also, I agree about Hotel Budapest. It was a lot of fun.

Went and saw spotlight tonight. It's about the Boston Globe's uncovering of the Catholic church pedophilia scandal. Definitely worth checking out.
