Cable is where it is at in regard to quality TV it seems. The networks have been afraid of taking risks for years, and have gotten far too comfortable on relying on reality tv. sitcoms have really taken a kick in the tuckus as well. There are fewer slots open to them on network tv now (it's crazy to compare a network channel's roster today compared to any year in the mid 90s). Reality TV is fairly inexpensive to make, and as long as people flock to it, the networks are going to keep watching it. It's crazy that a show like Community can't make it, yet a show full of D-list celebrities diving into a pool becomes the biggest show in America.

Since I moved out of my folks home, circa 2002, never got cable so I miss out on the shows, or do I miss out on the shows?

Annie Hall. Why do people like Woody Allen again? What did people like about this movie?

Haven't fired up this thread in a while, but if you haven't seen Gravity yet, go do it. I'd recommend shelling out the extra $$$ for 3-D as well. I usually pass on the 3-D but its worth it for this movie.

Yea, saw Gravity in 3-D as well. Worth it. Visually spectacular. Barely any movies are worth 3-D but the last two I saw were (Gravity and Life of Pi). Also saw Ender's Game the other day. Cool, entertaining flick. Makes me want to read the book.

Such a beautiful movie visually. I bought the book for Ender's Game at a rummage sale this summer. I still haven't gotten around to reading it.

So many movies I've missed out in 3d simply because I didn't want to end up in the cinema cubicles after the movie puking my guts out. That said my friend got stoned just before seeing the movie in 3d and got kicked out of the theatre apparently for yelling and screaming in fright.

I watched Pacific Rim, and thought it was visually amazing. I'm not a movie buff like you guys -- if it entertains me with explosions and colors, I'm satisfied

I have a week stomach so I'm surprised they don't make me sick as well. But besides a couple of gems I think that 3D ruins a lot of movies. It can really dull the color and it is an unnecessary distraction.

I agree. It sucks you get motion sickness but you are not missing much. Simply watching in IMAX or just normal big screen is basically the best option 9 times outta 10. 3D has been a hindrance for most movies. The ones I named and Avatar are the only 3 I can remember thinking to myself it was worth it or really a good experience. The rest have been gimmicky or clearly a cash grab.
Also, I agree that Pacific Rim looked like a lot of fun. Probably is another movie I should've seen on the big screen but I'm going to watch it sooner or later.

Rubbish storyline but the 3d was what you went for.

When I was a kid, my mother took me and my sister to Jaws 3 in 3-D. I thought the coolest thing as a kid were the 3-d glasses.
