we have quite the storms here in northern in europe. though it can't be compared to the disaster in asia it's still makes you think what's wrong with the climate on our planet. we have like 10 feet waves coming from the sea and it's full of ice cubes of different sizes. sea side cities are under 3-6 feet deep water. no one can go out because of hypotherimia and other things. in sweden and denmark something like ten persons are dead. again i don't compare it to the tsunami catastrophe but still it's kinda weird

Wow, I wonder if this is directly related to the earthquakes that caused the tsunami's in Asia? BC, I hope your family remains safe through all of this. Are you in any danger?
BTW, I think humans have totally destroyed our future. Science, as marvelous as it has been, has also been our destruction. Along with electricity, cars, elevators, toater ovens, etc. came nuclear weapons, power plants that emit millions of tons of atmospheric wastes and liquid wastes into the waters, and other things which are now beginning to threaten the life of this earth.
Certainly, a lot of good things have come out of science and technology, such as all the hospital equipments that go to saving lives and other necessities that have helped our way of life. But with the good comes the bad, and the bad is magnified nowadays.
I sort of went the long way around the topic to get to my point ;D Basically, I think a lot of the reasons why we are having radical changes in our climates is because of the pollutions we have ommitted into the atmosphere. Scientists are now saying that every single body mass of water is polluted with chemicals. Even secluded islands in far away places that are isolated from society, whether it be in the Arctic or in the Pacific, water samples show traces of toxic chemicals that threaten sea life, which is where a good portion of humans get their source of food.

there's no threat to me, in estonia there's only one death. but you're right derren - humanity's using of technology has turned into abusing it. now we have to pay the price

It's been great having things like microwave ovens and VCR's and computers and all. But when science/technology starts playing God by cloning humans and animals, and all these plastic surgeries to make perfect humans, and when factories that dumps all these toxic chemicals into the ocean to so that we can have paint that won't fade, I long for the simpler ways of life in the country. Actually, I'm seriously considering this.
