As the college season starts and plays itself out, we're going to find out who the consensus top players will be. And we kind of already have an idea of who they will be. I wanted to start this thread so we can talk about prospects who are not high on the radar, but you think might have the goods to be real NBA caliber players -- such as Terry Rozier (who everyone questioned on draft day, but is turning heads now). Maybe there will be someone like Kawhi Leonard, who wasn't highly touted, but is arguably a top 5 player. Paul George is another example. Who will be the next diamond in the rough? The first guy I'm going to list is OG Anunoby, 6'8" 230 lb SF from Indiana. www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBnZPA2GcsII like his body, his athleticism, his explosiveness, his motor, and I think he'll develop into a good offensive player. I'll be watching Indiana this year (and watch big man Thomas Byrant too).

Throwing into the mix, Miles Bridges from Michigan State. www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCONLbvQKaAI heard his name a few months back and checked out some videos of him. I think he is very explosive, needs to expand his range a little but he looks like a high energy player that will go for every rebound. Hopefully Tom Izzo fixes his flaws. With his athleticism and Izzo's coaching, he may came out of Michigan State the same way Draymond came out.

I'm iffy on Bridges. Plays a bit too reckless for my taste. He's a bit on the heavy side too. His shot needs work.
But plays with an edge, which I like.

Because he is going to Izzo, I trust he'll be taught discipline and defense. Izzo has always been very good at instilling that in his players.

Yeah, some good players have come out of MSU recently. Really liked Denzel Valentine.
I also question if Bridges's game will shine, even in college. I initially was curious about him because he plays with an attitude and he liked to take it right at people; but I've got to see if he's got craftiness in his dribble game. Guys with questionable shots need to be able to drive and get to the line.

I always hold out hope that someone with questionable shots work their !!!GREENIAC!!! off and become the next Kawhi...after all he came into the league known for his defense and not really his shooting but man he is one of the best these days.

Yeah, its always a good sign when you see players who improve their games, even from high school to their freshmen year of college.
Bridges seems to have lost weight, which has improved his quickness. If he can tighten his handles a bit more, he can easily be a lotto target.
Of course, if he can prove to be a legit 3 pt shooter, he's a lock to in the top 14.
Again, maybe the biggest thing I like about him is his attitude. Has fun, but plays mean.

Gonna add Malik Monk to my list. Listed only at 6'3", but plays like a 6'6" combo guard.
Incredible scorer, explosive athlete, quick, got good handles.

I dont think Monk can be added to this thread. Isnt this for not so highly touted ones? Monk is a 5 star top prospect so he definitely has big expectations on him. I like his scoring abilities though. Didnt get to see much of his defense and rebounding skills.

I checked his mocks, and he's projected at 18 from both NBADraft and DraftExress. Was surprised to see him that low.
Would be nice if we can add another 1st round pick this upcoming draft.

I'm looking at Arizona's freshman, Rawle Alkins. The guy is 6'4", stout, thick build, but yet explosive and agile.

Here's another guy I'm interested in: Malik Pope, 6'9" 220 lbs SF/PF, San Diego State University www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMdPZEvPV5EHe's a junior this year (20 yrs old), so already he's not going to have the luster and shine that the incoming freshmen have. But maybe he'll explode this year. He looks like a good 2 way player with potential. Sort of looks like a Kris Middleton type player. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMdPZEvPV5E

Yup, Miles Bridges is a legit top prospect. He lost a good amount of fat since high school and has become more explosive and athletic. Plays with a chip.
Not finishing at the rim like he's capable of doing -- but the great thing is he can get to the rim when he wills himself.

Ever since watching him in the high school All-Star showcases (McD's and Jordan classic), I haven't been excited about Josh Jackson. And seeing him in action yesterday, again I was left unimpressed. Sure, I guess he's athletic, and can jump really high and dunk really hard, but as far as basketball skills, aside from his shooting (which is also somewhat questionable), I don't see the skillset to warrant a top 5 pick.

Not even listed on NBADraft's top 100, one of my favorite collegiate basketball player is Isaiah Briscoe from Kentucky. Such a smart and crafty combo guard. I really wish he was playing for the Celtics.
