I don't see Danny as a one man show. I think he relies on his scouting staff to bring to his attention the best players and I think he relies on Brad Stevens to give him input. Why else would Brad be there for all the work outs and for the Combine etc. If he has no input into the decision, why waste his time sitting for hours with Danny watching prospects?

Hmm I can't see bill bellicheck going to McDaniel's and saying who should we draft.. Danny's biggest issue is he doesn't have that support system in the draft.. he's a one man show because HE wants that I see no evidence of that. He has the final say, but after a lot of input from others. Just like every other team.

It is much more logical to say Doc had no control and wasn't on board with a rebuild.. So went somewhere he could do things his way.. Fact1: Doc favors veterans.. Would rather trade a pick for a veteran..

No support system.. Perhaps I could have worded that better.. I do see Danny as a one man show because I don't see anywhere any credit going to the scouts or any public input..

I've seen interviews with Danny where he gives a lot of credit to the Celtics' scouts and the others in the front office. I've also seen him praise Brad Stevens for his knowledge of college players giving them a big boost in the drafting process.

I see him and ainge as very similar.

I'm pretty sure I read that Jaylen Brown was essentially the guy Brad was really high on.

Just pointing out that Danny does involve the opinions of others in the draft process. Just throwing this thought out there, but Brad was high on Demetrius Jackson as well. Recruited him as a high schooler, and watched him play, develop and grow at Notre Dame. Its not so hard to imagine that Brad had a say in that pick.

A g.m.letting a coach influence a late second round pick is a good thing for good will. Did brad influence the record rookie contract given Jackson to? Or was it a Danny's attachment to a former Celtics guard with the initials of d.j?
My belief about doc was he really didn't like rookies and would trade picks for vets any day..
I really hope this d.j. is as good as D.J.. One of my favorite celts
