I honestly don't know much about him except what I have read.. Tough mean and has some skills.. I honestly question whether it was because he wouldn't sign with us or that Danny doesn't really value that type of player.. I see no reason to renounce his rights.. Anyone got a valid reason?

I liked Colton Iverson when he played for the Celtics in Summer League. He was big and played tough. But, he was pretty raw also. I saw a report that he had gotten some other offers and so Danny released him to be able to go after them if he wanted to.

I just can't make any sense out of this. If he had other teams interested pursue a trade? Just giving players away is not a good course of action..
I can understand Kelly olynyks potential but this type of player is what I think we need.. Not 3 bigs that are similar..

When moves like this go down and I don't understand them I have to believe that there may be factors that we just don't know about. Like I said, I liked what I saw of Iverson in summer league but maybe there was just something about him that wasn't evident that cause Danny to rule him out.

Another team's interest in him might not be high enough for them to give up something for him. On the other hand, if he were a free agent someone might make an offer. This was a class move by Ainge, giving the kid a chance when Danny knew he no longer fit into the Celtics' plans.

That sounds classy and Noble indeed but my question is when are we going to pursue a tough mean front court player. I don't see any of that on our roster..

He's playing in Europe this season - Ante Zizic.

No team is going to give up even a future 2nd rounder for Iverson. And since he stood no shot at making our roster, may as well let him try to latch on to another team's training camp squad. And like JMost said, it's a nice thing to do for Colton, and it also helps maintain a good relatationship with Colton's agent, which is crucial in the NBA.

Maybe next year.? Those three words came to mind as I read above..
Zizic had one of those strange clauses in his contract? Like a 2 way deal that he could possibly play here this year.. Cost us more under salary cap? Not sure I am wording it right_?

That's a good question. I'm guessing the C's would like him to stay overseas for 2 more years (dude is stil young), but I'm guessing his agent wants him over here in 2017. The quicker his rookie contract gets started, the quicker he get to free agency and make some big bucks. But if his Euro contract is lucrative enough he maybe won't mind staying for 2 years, so who knows?

I also like FlCeltsFan's Zizic contributiion. I think that course/style of the team has also moved away from Colton's strengths.
