As Ainge pointed out, the two areas he wants to address are
1) get stronger at Center 2) better shooters
So Zeller and Amir obviously aren't the answer, and they're not the ideal players he wants. Could Okafor or Cousins be Danny's targets?
Better shooting will not come easily. Is he talking about a shooter off the bench like Matt Bonner? Or is he talking about shooters who will be heavily used in the rotation? There aren't too many good shooters in the league.

It's possible that players returning will be better shooters. Several players have said that they are working hard on their shot this off season Rozier seems to have worked on his shot and he is shooting it very well in Summer League. I know that Danny said he's not done and is still working on trades so who knows who he is targeting.
Thinking that several of our plsyers will probably improve their shooting. Kelly was shooting the ball very well before the shoulder problems. I can see Danny looking for a stronger center as the top priority and then a scorer secondary.
I saw something today saying that Colton Iverson may be a possibility at center if not able to make a trade. Still a lot of rumors about Cousins. Whatever he does, if it's not a star like Cousins, he's going to keep his flexibility for next off season with a ton of stars becoming free agents and a very strong draft.

Yeah, we know that Danny is head strong about not giving up his assets. We could have had Jimmy Butler, or Okafor, if Danny was willing to give Crowder, Smart, Bradley, etc and our draft picks -- but he rightly refused.
It's only a matter of time before Philly gets desperate enough to move Okafor. We hear it rumored that their asking price is dropping, and that Danny will not budge from his offer (curious to know what his offer is).

Danny mentions a "stronger" Center. Does he mean physically stronger?
Maybe thats why we're talking about Colton Iverson.

One issue that could be holding up a potential Cousins trade is that next year is his last year of his contract at 16.8M. The amount isn't the problem, the problem would be Cousins willingness to sign an extension so we are not just throwing away assets for one year. Then also with his history of drama, how much of a extension do we want to give him before he proves that it was just a bad fit with the Kings? In other words there are a lot of complications that go into a potential Cousins trade other than who or what to give up in the trade.

Next year Cousins will be a free agent, along with a lot of other players. Rather than commit big money to a stop gap this season, I'd rather wait and see what free agents are out there next season - With Horford, and this young core, the Celtics will once again be a free agent destination.
I'd rather bring in Colton Iverson for a year than give up a lot of assets and core players for Cousins if he isn't going to commit long term. A trade for Okafor wouldn't take as much to pull off.

Someone said that Brad must be happy with no point guard. I think we need a veteran who can open the floor up. We need leadership. Someone to light a fire so we don't lose another Sullinger..
Ya we need rebounding. rim protection. athleticism at the center.
Pure shooter.. ya.
Does anyone else feel that this team is a bunch of great guys. One sided players that they have 2 many of?

We are a team full of overachievers, but missing guys who can constantly and consistently win their individual battles. Meaning we don't have a great rebounder, a great shot blocker, a great scorer (although Isaiah ain't too shabby, just too short).
Curry consistently gets the better of his man. Klay normally gets the better of his defender. Draymond often wins his battles. And that's why they're so good.
Jae Crowder is a guy I like a lot -- but its a toss up whether he can win against his man in a given situation. Bradley has a hard time beating his man offensively. So des Smart. So does Amir.

Do you think having a true scoring point guard would help them? I do. But those players are rare.
Which type of center would you rather have? Slow footed slick shooting good passer or a strong athletic defensive type that can score if a good point facilitate s ..
I want the stud. I want to see them get more easy fast break baskets and stop the easy baskets on the other side.
I was intrigued by bender as a fast break option.. But I want more.. I want us to be tough. To scare LeBron from going to the hoop. That's the only way you beat Cleveland now in my opinion.

Yeah but that's 1 yr away to get him. Then 2-3 for him to develop. I want to win now

I don't think Ainge feels the pressure to win it all now. He's building a strong team now, while adding better talent that will contribute in a few years.
We really do have a bright future!! Incredible.

With 2 super teams on the horizon for next season, there really won't be a chance to win the championship this year. Danny needs to build a team to win now but to be a contender in future years. That's why a one year rental on a player like Westbrook or Cousins isn't really smart.
I just don't see Westbrook agreeing to stay in Boston and forego free agency. He wants his chance to do the free agent meetings etc. He said so last season. That may change but he seems like a guy would would rather be in NY or LA where all the fashion stuff is since he is so into that kind of thing.
Cousins may be more likely to sign an extension especially if he is still friends with Isaiah. I have no clue about what Griffin would do. But all of these guys are rumored to be traded because their current teams don't want to lose them to free agency for nothing. So why would Danny give up a lot of assets only to lose them for nothing in free agency? It doesn't make sense.

Any rental is way to expensive. But a good solid point guard now makes sense because it builds a good foundation. Makes the team better while waiting for the super star.
