I too am skeptical about Blount. I have never doubted his skill, only his motivation. I think that is why Doc is not only starting him, but actually feeding him the ball alot right in the beginning of the game to "keep his head in the game", as well as try to get him in an early rhythm to boost his confidence. So far it is working. Let's hope this keeps up. One thing about playing confident and playing hard, it is usually contagious to your teammates. When the team as a whole is playing well, it boosts the confidence of the individual players. When one player is seen working his butt off in practice and it is paying off in games, other players follow. Let's hope this trend continues, because last night's game I really saw a cohesive unit that had actual chemistry that was lacking in many of the other preseason games both offensively and defensively.

my question is: if perk was in such an excellent form when training camp begun why does Blount play? what's the real reason: doc's lack of confidence in perk or showcasing blount. it's not like perk has gotten worse during that span

I just think plainly Blount has outplayed Perk in the preseason. Perk has had a few good games, but he has also been inconsistent. A few games he has had trouble staying on the floor because of all of the fouls. Blount has been consistent in every single preseason game whereas Perk has been up and down. Also Doc has been tweaking with the lineup at times going small with Raef, Scal, and Al all playing a little center cutting into Perk's minutes.

I recall mentioning---several times----t he opinion that some of you were writing Blount off too quickly.

No actually, they all have played a little 5 in seperate instances. Last night for quite a stretch, Doc went small and Scalabrini was playing center. I think the lineup was Scal-5 Gomes-4 Reed-3 West-2 Greene-1. But usually if Scal and Big Al are on the floor and playing the 4/5, yeah Al plays center and Scal plays 4.

I may have written off Blount too early, but on the flipside, some of you may have jumped on the Blount wago too early. Season hasn't even started and we've only played 8 preseason games. Blount is not out of the woods yet. He still has to prove over the long haul that he's changed his sulking ways.
BC, I think Blount has outplayed Perkins. Though Perkins has had big rebounding games, I think his overall effectiveness is not as much as Blount's impact on offense. This may hurt, but I don't feel Perkins is our future starting 5. His future is off the bench.

Definitely. We need rebounders out there, and not just scorers. If Perkins is rebounding, get him in there.

If I remember correctly Kidd got 0 assists so something good happened at some point. Also i wouldn't call Al J fragile but if he misses and more extended time soon I think he will begin to be called fragile. To me if you don't play something like 75 games every year full speed you are fragile. Good end of the Cavs game last nite. maybe the momentum will help carry them into the new season.

Maybe defensively J-Reed can be our team MVP. But not the overall MVP.
