Rondo to me is the kicker because when you have a pg that dominates the ball like that you need players aroun dhim that can be in the right spots. He might be better served building chemistry with this young group and an assortment of guys but he also has to be willing to do that. This may be ainge's way of keeping him around and selling him on that. I like the idea of rondo being a leader and bringing along a young group but thats going to take time.

I believe Ainge and the owners want fireworks (plural) this summer. They have already stated this. Meaning that they are willing to make trades involving our beloved players and trade assets.
But it will all depend if there are trade partners who are willing to make big splashes.

I think they've seen rondo throw the ball into the first row a few too many times. It's good to downplay this stuff though because we really don't know if we can even do this. I don't think the Celtics want to lose rondo.

I don't think years of rebuilding is what the Celtics want to be faced with. If DA can make a huge move I think he will make it. It has to be something good though like this.

this is a sick highlight video of love though. from about 3 minutes where he is throwing those outlet passes I got more excited that I should lol. the music is pretty surreal. It makes it seem like he is from some other planet. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7goyoocM74oanything with a batman dark knight type orchestra always is good. kg has a few highlight videos put to music from the dark knight. kevin love may be the white kg. lighter in tone and more futuristic but still batman.

I will still bet dollars to donuts that if we make a big trade this summer, it will be a trade involving Rondo for picks/young players. Minny isn't moving Love this summer, and I don't see any other big time vet that will get moved. At the most we may trade for Asik, but I wouldn't consider that a really big move.

i dont understand what ainge is going to do with all these assets though and trading rondo unless he is targetting durant in like 2018. I dont think the celtics can afford to do that. If we draft a young player and mold him for a guy like durant to come and play here its the same thing. different ages. SOmething doesnt fit with that and is too far off in the distance. IF durant doesnt come here then what.
it may be a situation where we have to wait a year though. I dont see us dealing rondo for some reason. not sure trading rondo equates fireworks going off.

there are only so many players in the nba. you have lebron. durant. chris paul. none of those guys are happening. after that its love. you have players like dwayne wade. paul george etc.. we arent going to trade for those guys. maybe paul someday but that makes a lot less sense.
i dont understand these scenarious of trading for assets at all. for what? we have assets and draft picks. We have rondo. Teams like minnesota are like that and a revolving door where they never make those moves to go over the top.

minny trading love would be like us tradign rondo. minny is going to be very bad. we dont want to be that. we want to take rondo and add a player like love.
you have players like marc gasol and tim duncan. but love to me sticks out like a sore thumb.

if love ends with the lakers we are basically forced to build through the draft. maybe add pieces some other way to go with our young players. we could target marc gasol or another young big man and build with youth. we could target embiid this draft for all i know.

the closest thing to fireworks this summer would be wiggins and getting a big man somehow if we go that route. id be fine with that. if we are building with youth we may deal rondo. its going to take time though and talent. we may bring rondo along and wait these kids out too.
kahn to me wouldnt surprise me holding onto love and love going to the lakers. thats what i would expect but if we are going to make something big happen this summer it has to be one or the other.

i dont understand these scenarious of trading for assets at all. for what? we have assets and draft picks. We have rondo. Teams like minnesota are like that and a revolving door where they never make those moves to go over the top. We've been rebuilding for less than a year. We need young, cheap, impact level talent. You get that through the drafts or through trades. Rondo could get us either young talent or picks, or possibly both. Ainge spent from 2003 to 2007 moving vets and making deals to get the young assets we need to put together 2008 championship team. That 06-07 team, while awful, had a lot of young talent that was desirable to other teams. This years team doesn't have nearly that much young talent. Hopefully if we move players like Rondo and/or Green, suck for another year or two, we will be ready to make some noise. Rome wasn't built in a day.

i agree with you but ainge is in a different spot this time. he got assets by trading off pierce and kg this time and trading for jeff green. he inherited that team before so he had to make moves to make moves. he first had to dump off antoine walker and get rid of vin baker and clean house then accumulate assets. he already has assets this time.
he had to go out and draft perk and jefferson and delonte, gomes, tony allen etc. it took time to do that. he has already done that with sully, and ko and bradley etc.
we are further along than last time when he came in and had to do all that.

it took him a few years last time. It might not be next year t his time. we are further ahead in schedule where we could build a different way. it might be another year.
