Great topic derren.
I became a celtics fan in the mid 80's. The only teams they would show were philly, boston, and the lakers. The celtics fans seemed much more passionate. You could feel the intensity thru the television set. I recall all those great series we had with the lakers. Nothing will ever take the place of that great rivalry.
I used to stay up late nights to wacth the 87 finals, i was on 12 at the time, but i couldnt help it. When magic made that hook shot in 87 i could barely bring myself to go to school the next day they were waiting for me as soon as i got off the bus. I never backed down from those celtic -haters, or frontrunning laker fans.
I love our fans enthusiam, especially those days in the boston garden. To this day i wacth every game on the dish, and i act is if every game is game 7 of the playoffs.
Once a celtic, always a celtic baby!!!!!!

You are a true soldier, and we salute you for taking the criticism, enduring the scorn, and still standing tall as a Celtics fan. May we all aspire to stand tall like you did in the face of adversity.

It was my last year in high school - 1977. I was mostly a track and field sports person, but I began to like basketball. So, while I was deciding on a team, I somehow was "drawn" to the Celtics. The team had tradition, the fans were passionate and they wore my favorite color - GREEN ! Tiny Archibald was the point guard that year. Then the legend joined the team - LARRY Bird and from then on....I BLEEDGREEN !!!!

Who would have thunk it.

hi guys, No, I am not sure of the year. I am 59 now, and it was a very long time ago, seems as if I was about 8, which would put the year at 1954, but i really dont know for sure. when did the syracuse Nationals loose the franchise?
