Sorry, I should have mentioned a little background info. Casspi was traded by Houston to the Pelicans, and the Pelicans have waived him.
Corey Brewer had a 51 point game last year! and is still with the Timberwolves.

Awesome that you got to see at least a little of the camp. Thanks for sharing that. I love players like Brewer that are down to earth and still have time to be nice to fans on a human level like that. Too many get a big head and forget where they came from. I know when I got to meet the Celtics back in 1991, Bird, McHale, Chief, DJ et all were so classy and spent hours after the game visiting with fans and posing for pictures and signing autographs and just being nice. I was so proud to be a Celtics fan as most of the Heat players at the time wouldn't even wave to their fans as they drove by.
I'm excited for the season to start. It's getting close now!!

My computer crashed. Will be fixed next week, I hope! Until then I am on iPad...slogging along.
Omri Casspi has been signed by the team that originally drafted him. (I don,t know how to multi-task on iPad...I think it may have been the Kings.). Anyway, the article said they think he will fit in with their uptempo style. Hope so, ,cause I like him,but based on one brief look, on the final day of meaningless drills, he looked really smooth, but also very slow. Fingers crossed that it WAS Meaningless.
incidentally, Corey reminds me of Jeff Greene. fast, deceptively quick, and silky smooth when he is in the groove. he is listed as an off guard in sone places, but has the size of a small forward.

David Thorpe's Pro Basketball camp has not yet started, but I do have exciting news. (Exciting to me, anyway.)
Gary Brokaw is now working with the same Community Center. I was introduced to him, and, slow me, the name did not ring a bell. I talked to him a couple times without knowing who he is. He is very interesting to talk to and I look forward to future discussions with him.
(Hint...he is one of three players who scored 36 points in his first post season game. He was director of player personnel at Orlando Magic, when Doc won the Coach of the Year.) Super nice guy!
My only excuse is that back in the day, basketball news was very scarce, and I really only got Celtics news...now I have League Pass and am more familiar with other teams and players.
Anyway, Gary has my phone # and e-mail address, and said he will keep me informed of basketball happenings at Countryside. That will help enormously.

Good news and bad news. When I was at Countryside Thursday David Thorpe was putting Tekeme Cotton (Wichita State) through some drills, so, of course,I went over to watch. Because of a large construction project this summer he will not be holding the camp at this location. I will try to find out later where, when, and if I will have access.
Gary Brokaw came over to watch with me,and brought a couple guys with him. (I may not be the only spectator any longer but i am still the token old lady .)
Gary introduced me to the others and included me in the conversation. That made me feel really good, and I appreciate it.
Last week I had asked Gary if he would consider being interviewed on CLNS. He said it sounded like fun. I have messaged Nick.
Another tidbit...he played on the Notre Dame team that ended UCLA's perfect season ('70-'71).

Not basketball related, but on the same tangent, one of my former teammates (cross-country/track) was playing in a baseball rec league years back in the Boston area. He said John Tudor, who was an all-star pitcher for St. Louis, and also played for Boston was in the league.
